Arcam AVR-400 Owners Thread

Arcam repairs are expensive and in my experience take a long time. Best to avoid them IMO

Thanks. I found a working one for a decent price so I’m going to collect that later today rather than risking buying one that might be faulty. Assuming all is well, should I check the firmware version & update if necessary? Does anyone know where I can find the relevant files - is there a download site?

also, it doesn’t come with the calibration mic - how important is this? I do have a sound level meter FWIW

Anyone that has an AVR400 that runs really hot, you need to get your bias voltages adjusted. I just adjusted all mine down to the recommended 15-20 mV (they were between 30 and 50 mV previously) and now it's running almost cool to the touch even after been on for several hours - used to able to fry an egg on it. Also if yours drops to standby after being on for a while, you might need to get your PSU rebuilt. I have just rebuilt my whole system replacing all the electrolytic capacitors.
