I have owned the ie800, ie800s and ie900. I still own the ie800s and got the ie900 June 1. I have owned many types of earphones from Denon to Sony to Sennheiser. I was most impressed with the ie800S for its clarity, depth and range. The ie900 blew me away. Take the ir800S and expand it in all areas of listening while removing any imbalances in the audio components of listening. I also cannot understand where or how listening could be improved. I realize it is very subjective, but I cannot find anything yet that would inspire me to find more of anything and look elsewhere. This is probably the first time I have felt I found the pot of gold. Know though that I am a listener that loves music. I don’t look at numbers or search for ways to describe diminished audio as I am not a reviewer looking to compare. I can only share what my experience is with these. I laughed out loud when I found myself hearing the relationship of sounds in songs I have heard many times, just seem more interesting and complimentary to each other. The many pieces just seem better related, if that makes sense. In listening to “Come Together”, the voices were at once extremely clear and real, fully untouched by the other sources of sound yet embraced and enhanced by how they all Came Together….sorry, not on purpose. I need to explain that I have little time with the original cable as I just got, and am using, Effect Audio’s Thor ll+ silver cable. My dap is the iBasso dx300. Of course, those components have much to do with it overall.
