I bought this phone to replace an S6. It's a quick review from that perspective.
First of all I have no idea what people's problems are with the sensor, for me it's fine but I guess it's down to how people hold the phone. It's 100% better than having it on the front button on the S6.
It's a beautiful thing to look at and hold, making my S6 look positively chubby in comparison and so out of date. Very nice to hold, I thought I may have issues with it being slippery but not so. I've never had a phone case in all my years having a phone right back to the original iPhone and I really don't want one to cover this up
Battery is much better than the S6, lasts twice as long and that's with the "ooo new toy" of getting the S8.
Smooth interface, all works nice and quickly, Samsung's launcher stuff is fine but I guess I'm used to it.
Very handy having the microSD card slot, bought a 200GB one and now I have all my music on it and plenty of room to spare without touching the phone's storage.
Things I find useless are....the side apps thing, it's no quicker than actually using an app normally. Bixby...an entire button dedicated to something I'll never use, come on Samsung, at least make that button configurable!
Overall very happy, Samsung's persistent spamming of me about it paid off
