Epson EH-TW5300 User Review

  • cypher007
very nice colour though blacks could be better
Review of Epson EH-TW5300 projector by cypher007, Nov 8, 2015.
only had it a few days but it looks stunning until the scene changes to a dark one then the black levels are a bit of a disappointment.

3d works well, and improves the blacks, due to the glasses filtering, switch eco mode on for 3d.

will try a grey paint for the screen and maybe buy a calibrating meter.

    UPDATE:

since my initial review I have had several problems with the unit, and thus far Epson has avoided giving me a new unit.

    UPDATE 2:

had to send the first unit back. bought second unit from Amazon.it direct. this unit has good focus but has a whistle on eco mode and the bulb flickers. replacement bulb didn't fix. Epson has now had me waiting 2 weeks so far with no ETA on when they will get a replacement. in my opinion this projector is fine for maybe action movies, but try and use it for gaming or pc use and youll find it noisy and possibly have flickering.

after searching for this issue it seems the tw3200 had this issue also.

to get the blacks better use an ND2x filter.
This item was purchased for £479 from amazon.fr (beamer goes pro) in 2015. The reviewer still owns this product.

What's the fan noise like in eco mode?

Using eco mode, the fan on a EH-TW5210 was audible in comparison to my ancient tw10h.
