The manual does not reflect how to properly set up this AVR
The Arcam AVR850 as a Dolby Atmos receiver is limited, due to the following
Stand alone it is a 5.1.2 Dolby Atmos receiver when Atmos discs are mastered with a 7ch bed.
It only supports a universal crossover in the setup menu which on a flagship is unforgivable.
Although it has two Sub woofer outputs there is only a common single distance setting
It doesn't support FH/RH which is a valid Dolby configuration.
The review suggests ceiling speakers will eventually be calibrated by Dirac with a firmware update, this is debatable and down to a third party to provide.
If it does happen then it would give Arcam a USP compared to the competition.
I had originally posted a damning review based on the information provided in the manual which was incorrect and confusing and for the most part should be ignored
Proper set up is achieved by trial and error
After discussion with my dealer most of these were addressed so thanks.
For transparency I bought this AVR in preparation for receiving a new speaker system which has yet to arrive so as yet I cannot comment on sound quality.
