This was my first projector I ever bought, after going to the What Hi-Fi Bristol. That year was a good year (maybe last real good one) for the show and we saw quite a number of projectors on demo and that was it I was convinced. For me it wasn't about being the best quality or 4k, I just wanted that big picture special occasion experience for films with the family and sports with my mates. I knew nothing about projectors and just bought this due to various good words here and in magazines. I knew nothing about throw ratios and screen sizes, but luckily this worked fine with my cheap eBay screen, the projector actually had a good level of adjustment for a basic projector which probably helped me get away with buying blind. My viewing room is my lounge and was not very well suited to projectors, it was all whites and creams and I did not have black out blinds, luckily the BenQ is bright, very bright, so bright it can easily be watched during the day. I love the fact I bought this projector as it allowed me to get into projectors, but also allowed me to get away with a few mistakes. My room was bright, my screen was cheap and the placement meant I needed a relatively short throw which this was. As with many things AV and HiFi I soon wondered what would the next step be like and graduated away from this after 2 years, but the fact that I kept this for 2 years is testament to how much I liked it as I regularly change my kit after 6-12 months if not sooner!
