Denon AVR-X2300W User Review

    Buyers remorse?
Review of Denon AVR-X2300W AV Receiver by avfry, Aug 15, 2016.
This is my first Denon. I previously had a Yamaha RX-V565.

I wanted 8 HDMI inputs which were UHD/3D compatible (my new TV only has 3 inputs). On this it scores 100% and the UHD pictures from my BT box are just fine even re-using old generic HDMI cables. NOTE: I tested 16 cables and only 2 didn't work for a 4k signal (they have now been chucked out!).

But, it's an ugly pup. I much prefer the look of the old Yamaha. The 2 different sized knobs makes it look imbalanced.

My biggest disappointment is the cheap/nasty/unresponsive remote control. Yuk! It is bigger than it needs to be as the buttons are too spread out. Horrid.

I was also disappointed with the on-screen display. Hardly cutting edge graphics for 2016. At least it worked in overlay mode for HD (overlay does NOT work in UHD mode).

I like the INFO button to help one understand the signal source input format, but the display is not unlike the old black and white text from an old VCR.

I used the microphone to do the setup, but you have to move it to 8 positions. The Yamaha only needed the mike in a single position.

Audiowise it sounds OK, but I am no audiophile. I was surprised to find that it doesn't have all the DSP (hall, stadium, etc.) settings like the Yamaha, although I didn't use them too often.
This item was purchased for £499 from Richer Sounds in 2016. The reviewer still owns this product.

So how come this Denon AVR gets this years EISA award ? What Hi-Fi ? 5 Stars

they like it. The remote looks a lot better than the Yamaha one that needs a magnifying glass to read the too small figures.
