Review of BenQ W1400 Projector by BoilingFrog, May 12, 2018.
Having recently moved into a house that had a large spare room I purchased this as a refurbished unit. I have found the image quality to be excellent. Initially I was concerned that I was affected by the dreaded rainbow effect, but over time this has lessened. Apparently this is the case for most people, but I did nearly return the unit as I found it very offputting to begin with.
I haven't tried to calibrate using a disc or such like, but have still found the image generally to be pleasing. I will make this extra effort to get the most out of it.
It is generally quiet enough in operation to not be noticeable once watching films and it settles down to a quieter rate on Eco after a few minutes.
As my first projector i could have sited it further away from the watching position, but didn't think about this aspect prior to installing it (rookie error).
I also notice a bit of light leakage, but nothing too distracting.
i plan to enclose the unit to address both these issues.
I think it is excellent value for money. Everyone who sees my setup is very impressed and I enjoy watching material on it.
One particular highlight was America Gods on Amazon Prime, especially the opening credits!
I've yet to use it for 3D, but looking forward to it.
This item was purchased for £450 from Richer Sounds in 2017. The reviewer still owns this product.
