I am a Pioneer Kuro owner of 8 years looking for the transition into UHD, I have spent 3 months looking for a suitable replacement for arguably the best TV ever made ?
I decided on the Samsung UE65JU6400, I liked the fact it wasn't curved for a start, and it has some good reviews, AVForums recommend it and that was the reason I decided to take the plunge, The build quality is very good and the design is simple, such a small bezel for such a huge screen adds to it's positives.
When I first viewed the TV wall mounted it was not a bad picture, but lacked the clarity and depth of my Pioneer Kuro, in fact it had me wondering if I had made a huge mistake, but I used the settings here on avforums and could see the TV really start coming to life, I toggled and played around with the settings even deciding on using a couple of Samsungs own advanced colour settings, Setting Dynamic Contrast to High, and Black Tone to Darkest.
I cannot tell you how happy I am with this panel, the recent Ashes on Sky HD was a exhilarating vibrant picture without any distortion or bleed over, Football is just as inviting and there is no lag or motion issues, 4K content tested up to 100 FPS only is smooth with outstanding clarity, If you want a flat panel that is upgradeble in the next few years via a evolution kit, without the bells and whistles of 3D or a Camera then this is a serious shout.
