ZyXel 325 with Mac & DLNA

Standard Member
Hi, newbie to NAS world, looking for advice on configuration of disk setup for mac.

I have the following; dlna hifi unit, apple imac, smart tv

I want to be able to back up the mac using time machine and also be able to stream music to dlna hifi, stream videos to tv.

Despite it being a 2 disk unit, do I need to have 2 discs fitted to achieve a Time Machine backup form the mac and streaming or will I get away with one disk.

What is the best way to setup, would I be better off with a ZyXel single disc unit?

I had the same NAS and have a MacBook Pro. You can use it just fine with a single disc. The NAS has Time Machine on it and it works really well. Video and music streaming works well.

It will work perfect for what you want it to do, I had the single disk 310 and did exactly what you are planning.

Just swapped mine for a 2 disc qnap unit, for the added security of a raid setup, it might be worth thinking about doing this with yours
