Zoo through the nifty fifty

Thought I would try something different at the last visit to the Colchester Zoo last Saturday. Only took my 50mm f1.8 lens - was a bit of a mistake as I really like the close ups I get with my longer stuff.

All the pics below are cropped apart from the Giraffe's tongue shot

1 - Little squirrel monkey, had to post this because of his expression even though focus is not superb.

2 - They have a new enclosure for the Sloth's that you can walk through, when it gets a bit warmer will b a great feature (bit cold for them last week)

I think you done well considering you only used the 50mm.

To be honest with you I prefer the close ups you have done in the past as well.

You did catch the eyes well in #8

8 is brilliant the only thing being (to me) the green left bottom is distracting I could tone it down a bit

#8 is the best of the lot for the eyes if nothing else. Your aperture was probably a bit wide though as the nose has lost focus. #9 could be a cracker if you could get some detail back in the eyes, maybe add a catchlight in for a really nice shot

Agree 8 is great, but I really like 7 too. Although I'm not keen on her tongue, i like the depth of field.
