ZIDOO - Z10 PRO - Z9X - Z1000 PRO - UHD 3000 - NEO A - NEO S - NEO X - Dolby Vision - Owners Thread

Hhmm. Looks like a stripped/cheaper NeoX. In fact I in practice use the Neo X front control buttons for the display and and prefer it over touch control.

It uses the smart Hybrid PSU concept of UHD3000 and includes a 256 GByte flash card.
Lets see what the price will be. Somewhere between UHD3000 and Neo X for sure.

Why would you want or need HDMI version 2.1?

Reasons for Going to HDMI 2.1 Spec for the New Zidoo Model Range 2022 & Being more Future Proof going Forward .

1 : Quick Media Switching

Swapping between different devices, like Blu-ray players and video game consoles, on a single television set inevitably leads to a jarring black screen during the transition. While it's not the worst thing in the world, it is a cumbersome aspect of last-gen TVs and HDMI interfaces that needs to go.

2 : HDMI® Dynamic HDR

The HDMI 2.1 Specification supports multiple static and dynamic HDR solutions. HDR enhances video images with an extended dark to bright contrast range for deeper blacks and brighter whites, greater detail in both the dark and bright parts in the same image, and greater detail within an extended color space.
Dynamic HDR

Dynamic HDR enables a noticeable progression in overall video image quality from SDR to static HDR, and now static HDR to dynamic HDR. Dynamic HDR support ensures every moment of a video is displayed at its ideal values for depth, detail, brightness, contrast, and wider color gamuts—on a scene-by-scene or even a frame-by-frame basis. HDR-enhanced content is available for movies, videos, TV shows, video and PC games and VR.

HDMI 2.1 Dynamic HDR

3 : It Has An Ear For Audio

HDMI 2.1 expands on ARC (Audio Return Channel) technology with a new standard known as eARC (Enhanced Audio Return Channel), which allows audio to be sent from the TV to audio equipment with no drop in quality. 2.1-enabled soundbars and other audio devices will be able to take advantage of HDMI 2.1's expanded bandwidth to deliver better-sounding audio (including Dolby Atmos signals) for a vastly improved experience.

This is fantastic news for audiophiles seeking to lessen the burden of multiple cables and secondary technologies. It's also great for experiencing the full mastery of Hollywood movies with inventive uses of sound.

@DELUCAS
Sorry but:
1) You need a new TV for that with HDMI 2.1 first above all.
2) Dynamic HDR is about DV and HDR10+ both already enabled on current HDMI 2.0
3) eARC is a nice feature but needed between the TV and the AMP not on the media player. I hope Zidoo will at least now get HDMI-CEC correct because that now jeopardizes correct eARC operation.

Conclusión for me; Nice in specifications to have HDMI 2.1 but won't bring anything really.

If it comes together with a new Realtek SOC supporting other/new codec standards demanding more bandwidth it makes more sense.

Well sooner or later your next screen will have 2.1 (New LG Oleds do ) just like most modern Av Amps even though they had issues with 2.1 ……

and instant switching between diff components would help huge ?

besides sooner or later most modern equipment will move over to HDMI 2.1 Spec even if it needs it or not 🙃🙃

There are huge mountains to climb before every manufacturer gets their problems sorted out . Look at VT recent video of Sony's VRR . lot's of promises few deliver...

Tech moving to fast and as such software / firmware trying to
catch up ….
wait till 8K becomes more available if. 😬😬

You'll probably never need 8K via an external device and I can't really see 8K TVs catching on either. THere's no real benefit to owning one unless it is the size of a house.

You'd be more likely to see 4K 120Hz content eminating from services specialising in sports coverage than 8K 60Hz via external devices connected to a TV.

There's realistically not going to be any 8K disc based media in the near or distant future and it is extremely unlikely that you'll see any 4K 120Hz content eminating from anywhere anytime soon.

Tech maybe moving gast, but the media you'd play on it ain't and isn't getting any cheaper to fascilitate either. Why would you need an HDMI version 2.1 equipped media player that isn't particular much good when it comes to hosting apps that can play 8K or 4K 120Hz if you are never going to rip anything that would require this? You'd more likely want and need a dedocated streaming box given Zidoos current status and history regarding streaming apps.

8K tv will be pushed by manfactures wether we want them or not
just like Bendy tvs and 3D tv‘s ……

and look what happened to them .
good chance in the future 8K tv be the only screen you can buy as manufactures think of the next big thing we need or dont .

In fact I still like 3D and do miss it on new TV's keeping my LCD TV for it in my bedroom.

correct can no longer purchase a new 3D tv
was stopped a few years ago now …..?

im sure cannot get them .
and manufactures will push for it again maybe in years to come …..

Doesn't really matter how hard they push it or realistically how many people buy one. You are never hoing to get 8K content on physical media. Neither are broadcasters going to adopt it and invest the ridiculous amount of money required to make their services 8K compliant. The BBC cannot even afford to complete the rollout of HD, let alone start on 4K or even think about 8K. It requires vast expediture for marginal gains.

There's not even that much if anything to gain by watching 8K over and above 4K. The difference is hardly detectable and you'd need to be purposefully analysing the content in order to detect it.

The film studios don't seem to be at all interested in 8K and most films shot with the intentions of showing them at higher frame rates haven't really been received all that well.

8K doesn't appeal to me at all.

Move to Japan and you may get 8K TV via the only TV broadcaster in the world broadcasting it, but only one single broadcaster outside of Japan in Italy expressed any interest in it when offered content from the Olympics and even they decided not to bother in the end.

Nice to connect a set of stage speakers.
I don't think they fit in my room unless I stay out myself. :D

So got my Z1000 PRO last Saturday, set it up yesterday, i did read a few posts including the 1st one on here about set up. But wanted to see how far i would get just on my own talents,

1st thing i noticed is i have a slight wobble on the unit as seen in the video, can this be fixed? Have others encountered this ? For the money i expected better!

That aside, love the aesthetics of the Zidoo, and so glad i didn’t go for the Z10pro, as side loading the HDD would have been a pain in my unit,

It asked me if i wanted to update to Software 6.3.40,
i seen a few posts about triple rebooting and completely resetting the unit after an update ! Is this still the case ?
I just let it update and just turned it off and on again later ! Or do i need to unplug it and completely reset it ?

Ok onto content,
not sure what the best naming conventions are, but hopefully you can see from photo its literally multimedia\movies\movie name\ then either the BDMV folder or .mkv
is this right ?
The wall paper seems to be showing all the right stuff, when looking at Spider-Man it shows blu ray which is the bdmv folder and the HDR which is the .mkv, both are the 4k DV videos do i need to add something so it’s clearer which is which ?

My Zidoo is connected to my LG E6 tv via my denon X4200 when playing
Spider-Man far from home 4K DV im getting :

3840x2160p@30HZ RGB 8 BITS BT2020 DV

And when im playing Black widow 4K HDR i get :

3840x2160p @60hz YUV420 10 BITS BT2020 HDR10

If i play spider-man BDMV folder thru my oppo direct to the TV i get

3840x2160p RGB 12 BITS BT2020 DV

I take it im dropping to 8 bit DV due to the limitations of my AMP?

Wobble ?
have you got extra kit on top of it ?

Rebooting unit twice should be enough after update .

They didn’t feel loose but didn’t check the screws i suppose if i took them all off and the unit stayed flat then that might suggest one of feet is not right or as you say needs fitting properly, wont have the chance to check it now till next weekend, but will check then :smashin:
