Quick findings i prefer the look feel of the Z10 Model in Silver Finish
the Remote looks the same as previous versions and will not be using the supplied power adapter 12V 2.0 Amp instead using the Z10 power Brick 12v 3.0 Amp version .
The Zidoo Logo on front of Z10 PRO is Raised and a 3D logo as such plus
the Packaging box it comes in is a vast improvement than the previous model to.
The Unit did not ship with internal clock battery due to diff international shipping rights etc
But can be purchased easily and fitted . [ CR1220 3V ]

A few Snapshots to compare the looks of previous models .
As soon as i booted up it confirmed new Firmware and i updated
note boots quicker than previous Z10
Boot up time to Home screen is lightening quick at 22:89 seconds .
H.T.v4.0 did not find all my Movies so spent a bit of time manually updating them .
At moment configuring Visual settings to match my Monitor so work in progress but thats all the fun with a new Device 😎
The Screensaver is a nice touch at long last plus visually stunning and of High Quality Photos the navigation o/s is nice & smooth using My Bluetooth Remote .
Weirdly powering off my Z10 pro with Remote powered off my Monitor even though all Cec is all off on the media box . ( a poss fix is to go to settings enable Cec then disable )
You Tube works in 1080p Great picture .
Cant fault Picture Quality or sound at the moment and unit seems more smoother and more responsive which includes using my own Bluetooth Remote it detects it and picks it up as soon as its booted to home screen .

If you want HDR10 + / Dolby Vision with VS10 support with Netflix / Youtube and other apps then its worth upgrading from previous Zidoo models .
Dolby Vision VS10 as its work in progress and what is the best settings to use for your screen the best results are coming through now slowly and i will update thread as we go .
Plus Zidoo are releasing firmware updates as we go to address any bugs which some are finding .
But overall a pretty stable unit im finding even with early firmware release
Just wished they kept the Silver finish look like the Z10 Model .
Its early days at the moment for this new Model out but in a few months time it will have numerous Firmware updates addressing bugs and adding new features like previous models before it and im sure it will just get better & better and im pleasantly pleased its been a solid and great visual playback unit in the few days ive had it .
Picture Quality seems to have taken a bump in Quality over my previous Z10 Audio as always is always down to your connected Receiver / Speakers etc as its just passed through .
As any new Device id say give it a few months to address issues as they get reported .
This Media Player is Best for use for High End playback of your stored Movies for Pic Quality & Audio etc with a Fancy but Lush Movie Poster Wall that improves with every firmware release .
If you want it for Streaming purposes get a seperate streaming device
for the likes of Netflix Disney Plus etc like Nvidia Shield or .......

This device is also is good for Projector owners im hearing & my thoughts if your not too techie and want trouble free Movie playback store your movies on a Ssd / Hard Drive to avoid the hassle of streaming to the Media Box & the never ending of SMB / Router issues headaches that come with it if it is possible .
If you use your Zidoo Device in a bedroom Enviroment or want total Silence Ssd are a good option with some coming with a 5 Year Gtee
Silent operation and no fan noise Req to be activated .
[ 4 + Year Tested on Various X10 , Z10 & Z10 Pro ]
at long last a request ive been asking for from years back we have finally got Live Bit Rate Reading on screen for Video Bit Rate . 😊
These Z series will now all come with Roon Ready Certified & with the latest update you can now format a Hard drive inserted which is a nice additional feature .

MAIN BEST VIDEO SETTINGS FOR THE NEW Z10 PRO 1619
& New Z SERIES
MAIN SETTINGS

Playback/Automatic frame rate/Frame rate mode: Switch frame rate and resolution

Display/HDR: Auto *
Display/Color Settings/4K 50~60Hz: Priority YUV420 10BIT
Display/Color Settings/4K 23~30Hz: Priority YUV444 10BIT
Display/Color Settings/Non-4K: Priority YUV444 8BIT
Display/Color Settings/HDMI Range: 16-235 **
Display/Color Settings/HDMI Range: 0-255 [ Pioneer 500/600M Plasma Kuru ]

Display/HDMI Mode: 3840x2160p 23Hz ***

Audio/HDMI Audio: AUTO ****
Audio/Downmix HD Audio output: OFF

*  Can be set discretely - available options are EDID dependent see below.
**   This sets 64 - 940 for 10-bit content. Can be set for Auto but I prefer to set discretely
*** This is personal preference and assuming auto framerate/resolution is on, it is only the gui setting.
(Set this last since changing HDR mode resets HDMI Mode)
**** From v6.0.90 "AUTO" works since DTS-HD is now supported correctly (RAW can still be used)

OTHER SETTINGS

Display/MaxCLL and MaxFALL: ON *
Display/Colour Settings/Deep Colour Compatibility Mode: OFF **

*    Some systems use MaxFALL/CCL, some don't. Generally leaving ON is fine because even if the system ignores it, there's no issue with the SEI message containing it. Can be useful to turn off for outboard gamma processing.

**   Enables forcing of 4K50/60 4:2:0 10/12-bit even if EDID does not allow.
(Some TVs can accept this signal even though EDID says it can't)
If your EDID does specify 4K50/60 4:2:0 10/12-bit this setting will have no effect.
If your EDID does not specify 4K50/60 4:2:0 10/12-bit and does not allow it, setting ON will cause picture loss.

Difference Models Explained :

Model Z9X:
  • The color changed but the same non-removable antennas remained (matching color)
  • One SATA connector was deleted and replaced by air holes for cooling
  • The PSU was reduced regarding size to 12V 2A (was 3A) which will now just do with one SATA HDD connected. There is no spare power specifically if USB ports are loaded too.

Model Z10 Pro
  • The color changed, the striping was deleted and the Zidoo logo on the front Raised / 3D look.
  • The PSU was reduced regarding size to 12V 2A (was 3A) which will now just do with one SATA HDD connected.
  • The Flash was increased to 32 GByte
There is no spare power left specifically if USB ports are fully loaded too or a second SATA HDD is connected (don't try a hot HDD swap under those conditions). I highly recommend to replace the PSU with a 12V 4A (earthed) unit when using this model with 2x SATA HDD"s.
Other specifications remained identical: HDD Slot, big Front Display and a Fan.

Model Z1000 Pro
  • The model was upgraded to be a High End (like X20 before) including the fancy Black GUI/Launcher home page.
  • The standard V7 IR Remote was replaced by the V8 BT Remote coming with High End models
  • The Flash was increased to 32 GByte
Other specifications remained the same: Excellent internal earthed 12V 5A PSU, internal antennas and the fancy sturdy chassis in black. This PSU will remain within the safety region under all foreseeable conditions. Audio and Video quality will (potentially) benefit from it too.

Model UHD3000
This model went through a big number of changes despite looking almost the same as before:
  • The PSU is actually a hybrid 66W version now: Switched mode for the HDD's power and a Linear PSU with subsections for DAC digital, DAC analog and mainboard electronics sharing a single transformer. Reducing power consumption / heat production.
  • The cooling fan moved from the back to central at the bottom improving airflow
  • The front display got an extra ICON for DAC on/off indication
  • The DAC and PSU where upgraded to better designs and using better components.
  • The SABRE DAC itself is upgraded to an ES9068 supporting MQA decoding in HW now.
  • An USB-IN port for external DAC access was added.
- The USB3c port on UHD2000 is now degraded to just a regular USB3 and HDMI-IN was dropped.

FW features are currently identical for all 4 models but High End models may get some FW functional differentiation over time beyond the GUI I was told by Zidoo.
( thanks to NiceMonkey )

NOTE : After Every Firmware Update Always Reboot Your Box At Least Twice then Power Off From Mains & Un Plug .

If its the same support 1619 ( Dune ) chipset it may well also do 4K Netflix as well .

If its the same support 1619 ( Dune ) chipset it may well also do 4K Netflix as well .

Both devices are Widevine L1 certified but it has nothing to do with Netflix licensing.
Netflix is the one to agree on such matters.

Dune is probably using a hacked apk for their 4K Netflix playback.
Zidoo never bothered to do similar hacks. It is highly unlikely that they will start implementing such solutions in their new lineup.

Yes Dune have come out with a apk 4K Netflix version id imagine with pressure from us cannot Zidoo do the same thing or use Dunes version if it can be manipulated with code ........?

I believe it is not their policy to act in gray areas as far as streaming licenses are concerned.

But odd that Dune looks like an apk for 4K Netflix is coming or out......

maybe nothing to do with Dune but a so called back door version is out in the woods so to speak via apk version is what can be done with the Zidoo ?

plus im curious what this will bring in to playback or to do with the streaming side only ?
interseting times ahead :)

The VS10 "thing" has to do with Dolby or Zidoo?

Edit: It is a Dolby thing...

"Can devices that Dolby Vision always handle HDR10 also?
Not always. Vizio’s 2016 Reference Series is an example of TV sets that can handle Dolby Vision but not HDR10, at least not at launch, at the time of writing. Reportedly, this will follow with a future software update. Most of the time however, TVs with Dolby Vision support HDR10. That’s because Dolby Labs has developed a ‘universal playback solution’ for HDR, internally called ‘VS10’. In its press releases, Dolby describes VS10 as follows:

- “As a universal HDR playback solution, Dolby Vision VS10 offers unique value by combining the ability to play back Dolby Vision content as well as other HDR profiles based on the SMPTE ST 2084 standard through one integrated playback solution. This enables a high-quality HDR experience on products ranging from entry level to high end by leveraging the capabilities of the respective hardware as much as possible.”

It may not be clear from this description but VS10 supports HDR10. The playback solution for devices will receive any HDR format based on SMPTE ST-2084 and ST-2086. Of course, it delivers the best HDR experience with Dolby Vision. Devices based on Dolby Vision VS10 will play back a variety of HDR content types, including HDR10 from Ultra HD Blu-ray and UHDA-certified HDR content.

VS10 has been adopted by several semiconductors manufacturers already, including HiSilicon, Mediatek, Mstar and RealTek. TVs made using these chipsets should be able easily to support HDR10."

It may be a smart way to say that DV will be converted to HDR...

VS10 has been adopted by several semiconductors manufacturers already, including HiSilicon, Mediatek, Mstar and RealTek. TVs made using these chipsets should be able easily to support HDR10."

It may be a smart way to say that DV will be converted to HDR...

That explains a lot
thanks .

If its the same support 1619 ( Dune ) chipset it may well also do 4K Netflix as well .

No, different Chipset. The new useless (or lets say no benefit or advantage over old devices) and overpriced Dune 4K Pro II has the RTD1619DD Chip without Dolby Vision, already confirmed. The Zidoo will have the RTD1619DR Chip with Dolby Vision

Thats a positive for the Zidoo but will have to wait and see what ,if ,and how it can play back :)

Hearing Dune has Audio issues but its early and bugs are expected ..... (edit resolved )

If the Zidoo can take advantage of the RTD1619DR chipset ( playback ) i can see a huge price hike on unit coming .

It is impossible to acquire a DV disc license for local streaming purposes.
Even with the DR 1619 SoC equivalent, no DV will be supported during the playback of a DV UHD backup.
What will happen though is a more precise color conversion of the original (DV) metadata to the ones supported by your TV/PJ. For example more precise DV->HDR or DV-SDR...
