optical is no good because it cannot play LPCM 5.1 or DTSHD or TrueHD. Optical and Coax can only play standard dolby digital; nothing higher
You are not very cooperative optical plays DTS 5.1 and DD 5.1 and did you are already did a hard reset like I suggested. Seems to me you are in a loop repeating it's not working .

I can try to reset again but I don't think that will work and optical cannot play the lossless DTSHD or TrueHD, etc. The regular dd 5.1 is lower quality and my LPCM 5.1 are also very high quality and will not play thru optical or coaxial. I can try the reset but the Oppo, Himedia play those same files correctly every time thru the same HDMI out

what good would it do me to try optical and play lower quality dd 5.1. Even if it plays, what does that mean ? it means the UHD3000 is not working correctly. I can buy like 10 media players for the price of the UHD3000 if all I wanted was standard DD 5.1, etc
I did not buy the most expensive player on the market to play lower quality audio

only HDMI can play the lossless audio formats

yes I tried the cable that came with the UHD3000. My Anthem Receiver shows DTSHD, TrueHD, Multi PCM but all the LPCM 5.1 files are not playing in all speakers like they are supposed to
I only tried 1 DTSHD 5.1 and that plays in left and right but you don't hear anything in the center

I played all these same files with Oppo 103, Oppo 203 and Himedia Q10Pro and they all play the sound in all speakers and the receiver shows the same DTSHD, TrueHD, Multi PCM, etc

It has to be the Zidoo UHD3000. I already tried HDMI RAW and Auto multiple times

where is the HDMI 2.0 mode, HDCP ? I did not see that in the menu

what about using internal Hard Drives and leaving them in the unit when you turn off and then being able to turn back on and start using. I don't know why they warn to unmount the drive, etc

This seems like the zidoo is decoding the audio. If it was bitstream the zidoo would have no idea what streams and what channels are held within the container for the non PCM files (DTS-HD, TRUEHD etc..). Others have it working so personally I would do what @Sir QD oled suggested, factory reset and start again.

Factory Reset did not fix the problem as I expected

I did my own test and found that the Zidoo player does not play uncompressed audio in mkv files

I took the same 2 mkv files that had LPCM 5.1 and converted them to m2ts and both played with all speakers the same way the Oppo and Himedia was playing those files when they were in mkv
those players had no problems playing full audio whether the file is mkv or m2ts

I have thousands of LPCM mkv files and there is no way I can convert them all to m2ts and I should not have to do that since this player is supposed to play them correctly

so basically the Zidoo has problems with mkv files that have uncompressed audio. The TrueHD file that I was playing that worked originally was also an m2ts file

they need to get this corrected. Both Oppo and Himedia are older players and had no problems playing these same files with full audio

When I try to use DV LL option in HDR setting on Sony A90j OLED the tv just gets a black screen and I have to cancel through guesswork through the black screen.

This display device supports tv led lldv. I tried compatibility mode and changing to player led mode with the same result. I also tried all the available custom edids.

Anyone got any ideas why this is happening?

Additionally I uploaded the A90j EDID here to the Zidoo z1000 pro with no luck:

I tried Harry Potter Order of the Phoenix which is one of the only ones I have with LPCM soundtrack. It played but wasn't correct. Played out of front three only and centre/voices were really quiet.

So clearly something is amiss then.

Go to the Zidoo forum and call it to one of the beta tester they call it in as a bug and hopefully the developers team address this in a future firmware update. There is always an option to return it and ask your money back if it isn't delivering as you expected. Seems to me you have plenty of other options to play your LPCM files.

I have emailed the place where I purchased to let them know. It is a Great Player otherwise but it clearly has audio problems with mkv audio with all different audio formats
I don't understand how they could have screwed this up especially when older players are playing these files perfectly

Haven't had any issues with any other formats from MKV. Have people issues with bitstreaming HD audio (other than LPCM) then?

At that price and especially as an audio product adverted everything must play right out of the box.
Just like you buying an Tesla and they are saying sorry the autopilot doesn't work but it comes in a future update :suicide: . More and more company's use there customers as their Guinee pigs .
Just use the word No enough is enough:lesson:

I do agree and LPCM should work properly it's a basic function. I was just wondering what was mentioned about re problems with MKV and all different audio formats as mine plays everything else just fine.

Hi mate

On your Sony have you set the hdmi port correctly? There is a couple of "enhanced versions" one tailored towards gaming (4k 120hz) the other towards DV. A version of DV should work on the 4k 120 option, but I am not sure which version it is. If your set supports TV LED DV then personally I wouldn't bother with LLDV, The internal DV engine on the TV will more than likely do a better job mapping due to it being able to tune in correctly to the displays capabilities. With Player LED the Zidoo will attempt to map from the catch all EDID the set outputs.

I remember all the HP movies had LPCM sountracks and I could get none of them to work on my Z9s. I got an error message and no sound at all. It was the same with the Zap though so I believed it to be a chipset issue. I hoped the new chipset would solve it but apparently not.

glad to hear that I am not the only one who has noticed the audio issues
Now we need to get Zidoo to fix it which they can do with firmware update

Yes, exactly the same here with Casino Royale. All other MKV formatted audio tracks work perfectly, just LPCM that has the issue. It is -10dB down in output.

Even more problems with UHD3000
When I play a folder of misc clips, mkv, mp4 that have aac sound, it plays some with audio, then suddenly no audio as it causes the HDMI handshake to screw up
then, when I played 4K 60 mkv files, it stutters and the sound cuts in and out, unplayable

I played all these same files with No problems on the last 2 Oppo's and also the Himedia Player

someone on Dune forums had Audio problems and here is the copy and paste response

. About multichannel decoding of Dolby / DTS audio formats to PCM.
We are very sorry, it was a mistake/misunderstanding in the previous communication.
When playing any Dolby / DTS audio format (including HD audio formats),
you can get multichannel (e.g. 7.1) audio, but for this you need to use bitstream passthrough mode and decode the audio externally on the AVR side (on AVR, on TV, on soundbar, etc);
when decoding such audio format on the player side, you can only get 2.0 PCM output (this is so in all Dune HD media player models produced on the new chipsets during last several years; this is the license and chipset limitation of the user media processors from Realtek; all other media players based on these media processors have the same limitations; decoding to 7.1 on the player side was only possible on very old models based on Sigma chipset).
(Please also note that multichannel decoding of Dolby / DTS formats on the player side is bad idea in general, because external equipment such as AVR can always do it better than the media player, by taking much more settings and parameters into account.)
Sorry again for miscommunication here.

2. About other notes on AVSForum (bitstream passthrough of some formats not working), it seems they are about a different issue, not related to your issue.
There is known solution for this issue:
If there is a problem that bitstream passthrough of some audio format does not work, it is known that the following 3-party patch can help:

Thanks so much for following up with me. I've stuck with the TV led DV and it looks like it is working as intended and looks great!

Hi. New on here. Just ordered the Z10 pro this evening, with it replacing my HiMedia Q10 Pro.
Going for this because of the DV support, and HT layout.

my setup will be the Z10 Pro plugged into my A90J HDMI 4, using eARC through to my Denon 2700h.
I’ve had a read through the first few pages of the forum, but any other tips I should take note of?
Is there a way of also using this as a server for my Samsung TV upstairs to see, and stream my movies off of my hard drive? And if so, what’s the best way to set this up?

thanks in advance.
