: Zidoo has confirmed that they are working on the SDK, and developing Dolby Vision support for MKV containers regarding profiles 4,5,8 & 9.

Mini Review :

Just landed

PIONEER : 500M Plasma Monitor 1080p
YAMAHA : Receiver Rx-V602 Dolby Vision
AUDIOQUEST : 2x Pearl 4K 18Gbs Certified HDMI 2.0 Directional High Speed
SAMSUNG : SSD 4Tb 860 EVO Internal Drive

Quick findings i prefer the look feel of the Z10 Model in Silver Finish
the Remote looks the same as previous versions and will not be using the supplied power adapter 12V 2.0 Amp instead using the Z10 power Brick 12v 3.0 Amp version .
The Zidoo Logo on front of Z10 PRO is Raised and a 3D logo as such plus
the Packaging box it comes in is a vast improvement than the previous model to.
The Unit did not ship with internal clock battery due to diff international shipping rights etc
But can be purchased easily and fitted . [ CR1220 3V ]

A few Snapshots to compare the looks of previous models .
As soon as i booted up it confirmed new Firmware and i updated
note boots quicker than previous Z10
Boot up time to Home screen a blistenrly quick 22:89 seconds .
H.T.v4.0 did not find all my Movies so spent a bit of time manually updating them .
At moment configuring Visual settings to match my Monitor so work in progress but thats all the fun with a new Device
The Screensaver is a nice touch at long last plus visually stunning and of High Quality Photos the navigation o/s is nice & smooth using My Bluetooth Remote .
Weirdly powering off my Z10 pro with Remote powered off my Monitor even though all Cec is all off on the media box . ( a poss fix is to go to settings enable Cec then disable )
You Tube works in 1080p Great picture .
Cant fault Picture Quality or sound at the moment and unit seems more smoother and more responsive which includes using my own Bluetooth Remote it detects it and picks it up as soon as its booted to home screen .

If you want HDR10 + / Dolby Vision with VS10 support with Netflix / Youtube and other apps then its worth upgrading from previous Zidoo models .
Dolby Vision VS10 as its work in progress and what is the best settings to use for your screen the best results are coming through now slowly and i will update thread as we go .
Plus Zidoo are releasing firmware updates as we go to address any bugs which some are finding .
But overall a pretty stable unit im finding even with early firmware release
Just wished they kept the Silver finish look like the Z10 Model .
Its early days at the moment for this new Model out but in a few months time it will have numerous Firmware updates addressing bugs and adding new features like previous models before it and im sure it will just get better & better and im pleasantly pleased its been a solid and great visual playback unit in the few days ive had it .
Picture Quality seems to have taken a bump in Quality over my previous Z10 Audio as always is always down to your connected Receiver / Speakers etc as its just passed through .
As any new Device id say give it a few months to address issues as they get reported .
This Media Player is Best for use for High End playback of your stored Movies for Pic Quality & Audio etc with a Fancy but Lush Movie Poster Wall that improves with every firmware release .
If you want it for Streaming purposes get a seperate streaming device
for the likes of Netflix Disney Plus etc like Nvidia Shield or .......

This device is also is good for Projector owners im hearing & my thoughts if your not too techie and want trouble free Movie playback store your movies on a Ssd / Hard Drive to avoid the hassle of streaming to the Media Box & the never ending of SMB / Router issues headaches that come with it if it is possible .

*  Can be set discretely - available options are EDID dependent see below.

*** This is personal preference and assuming auto framerate/resolution is on, it is only the gui setting.
   (Set this last since changing HDR mode resets HDMI Mode)
**** From v6.0.90 "AUTO" works since DTS-HD is now supported correctly (RAW can still be used)

OTHER SETTINGS

Display/MaxCLL and MaxFALL: ON *
Display/Colour Settings/Deep Colour Compatibility Mode: OFF **

*    Some systems use MaxFALL/CCL, some don't. Generally leaving ON is fine because even if the system ignores it, there's no issue with the SEI message containing it. Can be useful to turn off for outboard gamma processing.

**   Enables forcing of 4K50/60 4:2:0 10/12-bit even if EDID does not allow.
(Some TVs can accept this signal even though EDID says it can't)
If your EDID does specify 4K50/60 4:2:0 10/12-bit this setting will have no effect.
If your EDID does not specify 4K50/60 4:2:0 10/12-bit and does not allow it, setting ON will cause picture loss.

1 : Boot time : 22:89 seconds with background photo added
2 : When updating firmware download as is dont touch it and just copy paste to usb stick
and let zidoo locate it and it will test and unzip it for you .
3 : Once firmware is installed power off box then unplug from the mains for a few seconds then re-attach to the mains and power back on the Zidoo Box . ( just helps re-set the zidoo )
4 : Go to apps long click on Home Theater v4.0 app menu appears highlight Boot straight to Home Theater v4.0
and when you power on your Z10 PRO it will go straight to the Home Theater v4.0 screen .
5 : Z10 PRO can take a 3.5 inch drive or a 2.5 inch drive with a caddy .
Ssd Drive for Silent operation and no fan enabled . [ which i have tested ]
6 : Dont clog Z10 PRO with many downloaded apps [ Bloat wear ] it can make it struggle and cause issues try keep it minimal as possible as they use a lot of resources and run in the background and can cause crashes etc

8 : It pays to physically unplug the unit from the mains which re sets the unit and defrag it on occasion if you experience some odd issues .

10 : How to add Badge icons on H.T.v4.0 so add description in file name :
11 : Netflix 4K Make sure to set your HDCP setting to 2.2 for you to go above 1080p.
12 : If powering off Z10 Pro it also powers off your screen even though cec is disabled enable then disable cec in settings on the Zidoo should resolve it .
13 : Crucial you use a Quality Certified 4K 18gbs HDMI 2.0 Lead
14 : Installing a new Hard Drive Format first using windows set to Ntfs etc
15 : Deactivate CEC it will give you more Hassle long term than what its
Worth .

Dune is probably using a hacked apk for their 4K Netflix playback.
Zidoo never bothered to do similar hacks. It is highly unlikely that they will start implementing such solutions in their new lineup.

No, different Chipset. The new useless (or lets say no benefit or advantage over old devices) and overpriced Dune 4K Pro II has the RTD1619DD Chip without Dolby Vision, already confirmed. The Zidoo will have the RTD1619DR Chip with Dolby Vision

Thats a positive for the Zidoo but will have to wait and see what ,if ,and how it can play back

Hearing Dune has Audio issues but its early and bugs are expected ..... (edit resolved )

If the Zidoo can take advantage of the RTD1619DR chipset ( playback ) i can see a huge price hike on unit coming .

It is impossible to acquire a DV disc license for local streaming purposes.
Even with the DR 1619 SoC equivalent, no DV will be supported during the playback of a DV UHD backup.
What will happen though is a more precise color conversion of the original (DV) metadata to the ones supported by your TV/PJ. For example more precise DV->HDR or DV-SDR...
