Brand new. It arrived yesterday.

I don’t know loads about formatting but at the moment I’m doing so whilst the drive is plugged into an external enclosure. A long shot but would plugging it directly into a SATA cable on my PC make any difference when formatting?

I just find it a little strange that Windows recognises the drive and it’s contents fine but the player does not.

I read all the reviews and for me the zidoo uhd2000 sounds like the one for me. As it does music better and has a better 2 channel dac. What dac is in the zappiti pro. Thanks

I’ve reformatted a few times now. I did the Windows default NTFS earlier and it didn’t solve it. I’ll have another go just in case.
I had the same issue with my UHD2000 the drive needs to be plugged into a proper SATA connection and converted to GPT format then a format to NTFS and now they are perfect.

Before seeing your message I literally just finished doing that and it works perfectly now!

Thanks to everyone for their help.

Although I’ve now got the problem of Windows not recognising the drive when it’s plugged in when in its enclosure.

Looks like I’ll have to keep removing the back of my PC and plug the drive into a SATA connection every time I want to copy a disc.

I use one of these just sat on my desk connected via USB and the media player likes it as well as the pc when the hard drive is inserted into this unit , works a treat.

I've just ordered this WD 24tb my book due desktop raid USB 3.1 external hard drive. So I shouldn't need that, or do I.

Same setup as me pal and these will not work inside the enclosure after converting to GPT and formatting in NTFS.
Like I said earlier the only way I could get my PC which is an all in one (so I can not have any side casing off to keep connecting these drives) was to use that dock to insert them into and now I just stick the drives in there and copy stuff to them before inserting into the UHD2000.

I've got this also & went through pretty much the same issues, however at the moment i'm using mine connected to my Mac & just stream from it with Infuse 6, it isn't ideal as Apple tv doesn't do uncompressed audio, but i'm waiting to see what the next gen of Zappiti & Zidoo are offering before i dive in again (i had the Zappiti).
Unless i'm missing something, i can't understand why people are paying north of £700 just so they can put their HDD in to a PC, copy films to it, remove it from their PC & then put it in to their streamer HDD, that seems a load of faffing, especially as you then have remove it every time you want to copy new films to it..
Surely the lower end of the models all stream the same picture & sound quality??
Even if you don't want it connected to your PC or Mac, you can connect it via USB & just leave it in situ..

With the Zappiti 4K players, the picture and sound quality are the same with the lower end models. The Pro 4K has better video quality and sound, and the Pro 4K Cinema Edition is a significant improvement again.

Wondering if someone can help.....

This is my first dip into ripping my film collection and, if I’m honest, probably didn’t read up enough on subtitles.

At the moment I’m using MakeMKV and simply ripping the video, audio tracks I want and then ALL English subtitle tracks on the disc. Is this the right thing to do?

I appreciate some movies have forced subs and some people only rip those from the disc but with the way I’m doing it can I just rip all subtitles and then simply choose the desired subtitle track at the beginning of watching the film? I’ve copied about 50 discs so far and not sure I can be bothered to start again.

Thanks for any advice.

Apologies if I had misunderstood something.

I am seeing the mains powered external HDDs being listed for a lesser price than the SATA only drives consistently. For instance, WD elements 12 TB was £171 last week. Wondering what are the benefits of the docking station with SATA drives over mains powered external HDDs especially when they are available for a lesser price.

Watching “Where Eagles Dare” that I ripped earlier. Playback is stuttering every now and then (Only video).

i’m pretty sure its a settings issue, can anyone recommend settings for me I use an LG Oled55c6

Thanks

I had the same issue with mine on a few films, it only lasted a few seconds & was very random where it happened, but in the end i sent mine back for a refund as couldn't solve the problem.
I was advised to reset the firmware back to an older version & then reinstall it, but i couldn't even get the unit to install the firmware from the supplied USB stick
I currently use Infuse 6 as i'll wait to see what the next gen are like..

Not the answer I was hoping for, I’ve watched others and they played fine.

is there any different backdrops for the zappiti, the red backdrop looks a bit a dated
yeah, you can buy their silver one online for €5 but I think they do an offer where they give you it free if you leave a review. Check out their website. The silver one looks a lot more modern

Anyone experienced any banding with this player? Finally finished ripping my blu-ray collection yesterday and tested a few films. Blade runner 2049 (4K HDR) showed banding in the opening scenes. I tweaked a couple of the display settings and it improved it significantly but there was still some evidence of banding visible.

I haven’t compressed my films at all. They are straight rips from MakeMKV.

Also getting some weird audio crackle / squeaking noise occasionally. If I choose a different audio track and then re-select the original it clears it up.
