Gah - I hate you lot, just convinced me to pull the trigger on one from Nexnix - not too fussed about free lamp offer that was touted about, i figure by the time i get round to replacing it, i'll be onto a new PJ already, although i guess it would help with resale value.

Wait and see if they have an afternoon pickup courier hopefully i'll have it tomorrow!

They had 6 left when I ordered mine at 3:40 pm today! I just hope to see a viable improvement over my PTAE 100

Well I decided it`s now or never , and ordered one online just before midnight. I`ll have to phone in the morning and check to see if I`ve secured one.If I`ve been succesful I`ll need to order a ceiling mount.

Phoned this morning and they confirmed I had secured one of the remaining few.
 Just need a mount now!

I was going to get one (the AE100 is showing its age these days) but in the end fate seems to have decided for me by removing the best offers available. Probably for the best really.

I think I'm probably best waiting for a Z4 which seems more future proof with regards room positioning - the Z3 would be fine in our current living room where layout dictates that the PJ goes quite close to the screen, but in future this may not be possible. Of course, the hugely increased contrast ratio is another thing that held me back...

Hopefully the Z4 will be down to about £1100 inc VAT some time after Christmas

Nexnix charge an extra £25 for a pixel check IIRC.

When I placed my order, they said they don't think that a couple of dead pixels is sufficient grounds for a replacement/refund, so I opted to pay the extra.

Usualy depends which pixels are dead. I think a green dead pixel that is always on is usualy replaced straight away (or was that just Sony who did that?) whereas they may say 2 red or 4 blue before replacing. Some projectors now will blank out a pixel if it dies so its basically invisible rather than full intensity which is a clever idea.

I decided to pay the extra £25 when ordering mine yesterday (got one of the last few from nexnix). It's a small amount of money for a lot really. I know the chances of getting one with faults are slim. However, given the stock situation, I wanted to be 100% certain I got a perfect one, rather than risk the chance of getting one that had pixel problems, but which might not be accepted back. Even if by chance it was accepted back, there may be no stock for replacement (other than manufacturer stock, and they may have a different view on whether or not it is classed as a defect)....

Maybe an easy £25 for them in most cases, but I think it's worth it when so many manufacturers refuse to guarantee 100% perfect panels ( a policy which I completely disagree with).

Ah well, we'll all find out tomorrow - I think we have had the last batch of the cheap Z3s! I can't wait to hook up my HTPC that has been abused as my home PC for the last year - Finally back to doing what it was supposed to!

    Don't say that!

I didn't get round to it in the end. I think it will take a few more weeks of discussion before I get my way. Hopefully someone will have stock for a reasonable price then.

And I'm having real trouble finding room for my bloody home cinema. I can just about fit it in my lounge, sadly though, the screen will have to be about 1.3 times away from the viewer. That's not good is it?!

My home cinema dream is slowly diminishing, I just hope I can get it sorted. God damn old houses and their akward shapes!

My mate bought a Z3 from Nexnix last week. He had been watching the price very carefully and it looks like he pulled the trigger on it just at the right time. He didn't bother with a pixel check and hence got one with a dead pixel (Green I think). He gave me a demo of it on Friday and for the price I was really impressed. The 1 dead pixel was a non-issue you can't see it once more than 3/4 feet away. Very sharp detailed picture, good contrast, fantastic deal...

Almost regret not getting one myself.. Waiting now to see how the new LCDs PJs compare over the next few months. I rate either the Z4 or Pt-AE900??

I ordered from Nexnix at 3:30 yeserday and it arrived thiis morning ( very impressed) first impressions this image is sharper than the PTAE 100 ( I did expect as much! ) but will need tweaking before I am convinced that I have made the right choice. So back to the Rone thread.

Damn it! I've been looking for projectors for the last couple of months (since I knew I was moving house and decided to create a home cinema room) and last week was very close to buying one - but decided against it to wait til I'd decorated the room...now it looks like I've missed out on the Z3 :(

Got mine at lunch time. Having problems getting hdmi/dvi to work. I`ve got a picture through composite and s-video . Using a hdmi/dvi dongle and HDMI cablefrom denon a11 dvd player I don`t get any pic only the blue screen.
Checked the usual Source button on the a11for dvi pressed and set. Setthedisplay to NTSC andback to multi. Can`t think of anything else ,except the hdmi cable doesnt sit very far into the HDMI slot in the back of the pj and i get the feeling its not connecting properly. the cable has oblong moulding at theend with metal connector coming out of it. this moulding overlaps the socket and prevents the cable going in any further is this correct?Just noticed although I`m using it in a stand when i ceiling mount it I`ll have tochange/modify power lead . z3has clover leaf . the one in my ceiling is the kettle type. any ideas anyone please??? :lease: :lease:
