I know there's been a lot of posts re DIY ceiling mounts.

Looking at making something simple up out of some steel tubing / plates for my Z2. Given the amount of tweaking you can do via the lense shift, do you see any reasons to bother buying / building a ceiling mount that has all of the adjustable tilt settings etc ?

The only thing I can think of is getting the drop right and setting everything up square to the screen - minor tweaking then via the lense shift.

I bought lmp without tilt and regretted it. I got a trapezoid and could only get round it by placing washers under the rear bolt! In other words a perfectly level Z2 produces trapezoids and needs keystoning

Would have been easier with tilt on it

didnt the lens shift allow you to get around that..... i've tried my Z2 in some pretty extreme locations (even such that the lens is not in line with any part of the screen) and still managed to get it all square with the shift.....

but i would def recommend the lmp with bells and whistles, well worth the money

The lens shift aint no good if the mount's not level to start with. Having it adjustable means you can compensate for this. My gaff was built in the 50's and theres not a right angle or level ceiling in it :( so getting a fixed mount level could have been tricky.

lens shift moves the image doesnt correct trapezoids. Only of use if you can level the projector, which it aint on a flat LMP. The mount is perfect as is the screen (according to spiritlevel. Can only assume that Z2 perfect when at a slight angle.

And for the sake of a tenner too, im such a tight arse at times!

LMP don't really it make it very clear on their site the advantages of having the three way mount. Would have thought that for most people the three wayer would be the most useful one to have.
