guess this thread could become quite popular this week when all you guys start receiving your new Z2's
got mine friday and for starters lets just say this is an amazing piece of kit....but.... it has got very slight VB
despite calibrating and trying the No14 and No65 factory setting tweaks (which have an effect but only make it worse)its still there.
To most people ,99%, it won't be an issue but lets face it those on here arn't and its always the same when you get something new in that 'looking' for problems in the persuit of perfection.
    so what is VB ?
    can it be cured?
    does input source effect it?
i'm sure this will be discussed in great detail and we will have to wait for the tekhead boffins to answer them

well i am a bit mystified by it all TBH, i get vb but it is not that noticeable really, but for example when you can see it in a film while playing a film and popping up the z2 menu no vertical banding can be seen at all on the menu graphics...
does this mean it has something to do with the source?
and yes i agree it is a great piece of kit.

Now I may change my opinion over time but at the moment I have to really look to see the VB and I wanna enjoy the movie on a big screen not worry about minor artifacts. Lets face it the picture at the cinema aint always perfect.

I'm more concerned that having a 6ft image seems to have accentuated that The Phantom Menace has an awful script. :D

    Sanyo Z2? I'm lovin it

    well said man!
Everything has its pros and cons-nothing is perfect...well unless you pay enough, but the fact is for £1500, you guys are getting a damn good projector that seriously rivals those very mugh higher up models.
although vb is a tad annoying it is only there when you look for it!
    cheers

£1185? Is this a UK stock model or imported? I was thinking of getting a HS20, but I'm being tempted my the Z2 even more now! I'm only concerned about the VB and colour balance, but I could get this for now and 'upgrade' to a HS30 in a year or so? 3 years warranty as well, over the 1 for the Sony!!!

**** I'm confused!!! Anyone know if any place has both PJ's in and on display?

lol check my other posts, i have a contact who gets them damn cheap-and it is all genuine so no worries. I will be getting another one from him and i will probably sell it here, obviously i will have to buy it for more as demand outstrips supply at that price lol

Yeah, ivojo pre-order price, still can't believe I got it for that price, the saving paid for an upgrade from a manual to a nice electric screen anyway!

Adjusting setting 14 in the service mode removed most of the vertical banding I saw with my Z2. It's can still be seen under particular circumstances (large expanses of mid-grey colour) but only if I look for it.

Other than adjusting service mode 14 (from 71 to 80) I didn't need to change most of the out-of-the-box settings when using Digital Video Essentials. I've increased the brightness a bit (probably because I'm projecting onto a wall not a proper screen) so have lost some shadow detail, but it's still a wonderful picture. Not in the same league as some of the projectors I saw recently at Event2, but for a budget projector it beats anything else I've seen in this category by a large margin. All I need to do now is ceiling mount it and enjoy the list of unwatched DVDs we've been saving up.

    Regards

    Rob

    just about removed vb
tweaked option 14 in service menu instead of factory menu
now youve really got to be critical to see it and far less annoying than rainbows.
hope this hasnt put anyone off the z2 cos it's only a minor flaw in what is a superb machine for the money
and considering i'm only presently feeding it with a non progressive input and still achieving a great picture its a good starting point for future improvements with progressive, dvi, scalers, htpc etc
    well worth the wait!!

    Fred,

PM me with a price for the Z2's from your contact! I still haven't made up my mind which PJ to get (HS20, AE500 or Z2), but if the price is good then...

    Fred

I'm not sure how much you are hoping to spend on a sofa, but I have seen some very nice and I mean NICE leather sofas and armchairs for VERY good prices. We are talking £250 - £270 for an armchair that I know sells for £650 at MFI! The company selling them are called IXIA and they deliver free. Nip down to Greenwich market and check them out (they are in the inside market place), or their address is 86 Merton High Street Sth Wimbledon.

I am no-way connected to them, I just know these deals are fantastic and I can't wait till I have some spare cash to set myself up with a 3 seater sofa and two chairs, all in gorgeous dark brown leather for only £1000!!!!

are then aby particular films or sources that show up the VB, i have been using my Z2 for a few days and the only thing i can see is screen door from close range (Not visible from 6 ft away.),

what am i looking for i gues some sort of bands of contrast in a vertical line ?.

if it is there i cannot see it, i have tried the Xbox, Sky+, DVD Progressive Sony 930, PC (DVI), all with exceptional results apart a the black levels which are very very acceptable.

best 1450 quid inc screen i have spent.

btw, has anyone else tried using a 14" portable tv wall mount for the PJ, Works Great, i suppose it is down to room layout etc, but for me its much better the a shelf.

    Thanks

    Ian T
