Former Z1 owner, current AE300 owner.

Screen door was/is not an issue on the Z1 in my opinion, I am situated about 11 foot from the screen. A slight defocus will help lose some of it - if it is an issue for you anyway.

As the Panny has smooth screen, I tend to keep the focus bang on which results in a picture similar to the slightly defocused Z1 anyhow. ( hope that makes sense).

They are both fantastic machines, but in all honesty, to my eyes, the Z1 edged it in the picture, although I am more than delighted with my Panny.

Let your eyes do the work for you. Cant recommend a N/W demo as down here in sunny Bristol:cool:

    Hope this helps,

    Cap:smashin:

I have a livingroom that exact size. I have a Z1 and 6.5 foot wide screen. My eyes are therefore about 12 feet from the screen - just over 1.8 times screen width.

If you don't defocus then screen door is a bit annoying but with a five minute fiddle you can then leave it alone with a picture which is definitely sharp enough with minimal screen door.

I still see it now and again but it's not annoying anymore.

Deinterlacing artefacts are what bother me most now but I plan to rectify that with a JVC dvd recorder.

    Cheers,
    Cal.
