Here's one for you. My Z1's been getting all dust blobby as of late, and it's still under warranty, so I took it in for a cleaning. I just got it back from Sanyo this evening, and I am dismayed to see that I now have a stuck blue pixel in the bottom left quarter of the screen.

Now, I'm under the understanding that stuck pixels are manufacturing defects and don't just "appear" -- so do you think my entire LCD matrix was replaced during servicing?

Also, if the LCD -was- replaced, do you think I should make a stink (politely) about it? Said pixel is VERRRY DISTRACTING. Grr! Snort! Snarl!

Thanks in advance for any info.

    Max

i am about to send my Z1 in for some power supply problems (i think), and i am a bit scared it comes back with pixel problems....

give them a call and explane, maybe they will offer to replace it?

on another note,,,,if possible. (or any other Z1 owners)
after you power up your Z1 does the red power light flicker for a bit when you push the on button on the top of the pj?

Yes, I'd complain though it's only YOUR word it was not there before they did the work on it.

Yes, then can and DO appear at a later date.
I have 2 red pixels stuck on, on my Pannnie AE200 and there were no pixel faults for the first 40 or so hours.
1 appeared just after 40 hours, the second just after 50 hours.
    Strange BOTH red ones............

    Best of luck

If you have dust blobs, clean them yourself, takes about 10 mins.I had about 5 dust blobs within the first 2 weeks with my Z1, after I cleaned it they did not return.

Repair shops often do loads of the same model at the same time.
Unless you open a device up and paint some nail varnish on each module before service, who knows what parts you will get back.
This is more often a problem with xbox and PS2 chipping services though.

You say the 1 is feint and the other bright, what size are they? and what size screen are you projecting onto?.My screen size is around 120" diagonal and the blobs were feint around 4/5" diameter and were only visible on a black screen.

As 1 blob is bright are you sure its not a stuck pixel,it would be small though.I live in Wednesfield which dependent on where you live in Walsall is only 3/5 miles away.

the screen is about 8 feet diagonal , the blobs are towards the top left of the screen and are about 3 inches in diameter.
i would have thought looking at the size of your screen and blobs i would say mine are comparable to what you had.
they are def not stuck pixels , when i say bright i mean one is more noticable then the other but both get on my nerves!
i live about 5 mins from the town centre just off the broadway.

It sounds like dust blobs, are they only visible on a blank (dark/black) screen.I could pop round and see if we can get rid of them.

I am up in Scotland this weekend and won't be back till Monday night.Maybe I could come over to you next weekend and show you how to clean the pj.

You will need to get a can of compressed air as shown in my thread about cleaning.
