I don't know if you are aware but mission impossible and Zero dark thirty have 4k releases, ( zero dark thirty is a US only release i think)
Ah thanks. I didn’t realise

I cant recall if mission impossible Ghost protocol had a single release or part of the boxset, but probably easy enough to pick up on its own, if people are splitting and selling the boxset.

I've fancied Zero Dark Thirty 4k for a while, just not purchased it yet for some reason, i might go and remedy that now.

Here’s a few more off the list, from the Dark Horizons website:

Following the rousing success of their theatrical run for the 4K restoration of “Apocalypse Now: Final Cut,” Studiocanal has announced their classic library titles set to score 4K re-releases next year with all coming to home entertainment and some getting limited theatrical runs.

The list includes an eclectic bunch such as Jean-Luc Godard’s “Breathless,” David Lynch’s “The Elephant Man,” Sidney Lumet’s “Serpico,” Paul Verhoeven’s “Basic Instinct” and “Total Recall,” and Dino De Laurentiis’ “Flash Gordon

I'll be looking forward to seeing Total Recall in glorious 4K/Dolby Vision! The red Martian surface should look tremendous!

Jaws
Star Wars (early stuff)
Contact
Pans Lab - Release soon
The Descent
Anything Nolan Released
Anything Cameron
Alien/Aliens
Lawrence of Arabia
Shawshank
Where Eagles Dare
Children of Men
Jurassic Park

2 and a half years now and a few ticked off.

Could add loads more

Sunshine
Never Ending Story
Super 8
Back to the Future
Ing Basterds
Bond (Moore stuff)
Titanic
Cannonball Run :D
Indiana Jones
Select Hitchcock films
The Thing
American Beauty
Dollars Trilogy
Mad Max 2
Die Hard 2
D9

This list could go on and on.

Just quoting an old post of mine (which might have been a quote from an even older quote!)

Jeeez. 4K still has a long way to go. Still hardly anything from that list (besides one or 2 announcements for 2020).

I look at my humble BR collection (about 100 films) and hardly any of those have been released either.

35 UHD in my collection now (still to watch half of them). Might take 2 more years at this rate to get to 100.

All of the above has to come out this year for fudge sake.

The Island, Minority Report, The Fugitive are top of my list. Going off topic (slightly), my 4K order for Casino arrived yesterday. I watched a couple of scenes and am pleased to report it looked absolutely amazing! Far better than Goodfellas in that respect.

EDIT Just reading back on this thread for a few more ideas.....Contact, Shawshank Redemption and War of the Worlds (Tom Cruise) would be fantastic.

Yes would love Minority Report. 100% it'll look amazing. As long as you don't hate grain:D

4 years now since UHD was released. I hope 2020 brings as many discs as 2016-2019 put together.

I do sometimes think that 4K/HDR can accentuate the grain in an adverse way, but I seem to be in the minority on this (excuse the pun!). I watched Minority Report on Sky Q early last year in 4K (I think they labelled it as "upscaled for UHD" and, whilst it was a touch grainy, I really enjoyed the PQ and the grain certainly didn't distract me. I am surprised and disappointed that it hasn't been released for 4K yet. I only have MR on DVD and am tempted to buy the bluray, but am holding out for now, hoping it will get released on 4K.

El Cid although score less on IMDB than Ben Hur even Charlton Heston though was a better epic. Still have my Miramar M Collection DVD box set of it with the Blu Ray inside, but love a restored and 4k scanned version.

I’d like to see 4 of my childhood favourites in 4K.

The Goonies
Home Alone
The Burbs
The Lost Boys

Also, Master and Commander. That simply has to be lined up for a 4K release!

Perfect Storm would be good too. A Dolby Atmos soundtrack could be incredible with all the waves and lashing rain etc.

I, Robot and Enemy of the State would look great in 4K HDR.

Ahhh, back in the day when W Smith was in great movies.:D

The 2 best Smith movies (imo) and infinitely re-watchable.

100% buys both of them.

Would love to see Rocky Balboa given the treatment

I read somewhere that Eyes Wide Shut is due for 4K release later this year. I have this on DVD and, alas, it doesn't look great on a 65" OLED. I understand that the bluray isn't great either, so haven't bothered upgrading. Does anyone know if the 4K release will retain the 4:3 aspect ratio?

No idea on the aspect ratio but i recall seeing that the movie will have a special cinema screening (flashback etc) some time soon. So a 4K release later this year makes sense.

Mine, off the top of my head:

A.I. Artificial Intelligence
The Hobbit Trilogy (Theatrical/Extended)
The Lord of the Rings Trilogy (Theatrical/Extended)
Aliens
The Abyss (still waiting for this to come out on BD...)
True Lies (ditto)
Titanic

Aliens
The Abyss
True Lies
Robocop
The Bird with the Crystal Plumage
Deep Red
Blow Out
Dressed to Kill
Phantom of the Paradise

I really hope James Cameron reads this thread and realises he can stuff new Avatars, we want his legacy movies!

Seven
Deep cover
La Confidential
Blade 1 . 2 and 3

I doubt it. The blu-ray is widescreen and yes its hardly better than the DVD so dont bother upgrading unless you see it dirt cheap. It really needs a decent 4K remaster which it will hopefully get! I never thought the likes of Aliens and 12 Monkeys could look better so there is hope!
