Mmm - 10 good films this year......

Haven't seen LOTR yet, so I can't include it.
As for the rest, doubt I could find ten to fill a list.

I can only think of one outstanding movie this year and it was Memento. Finding it hard to think of anything else worthwhile this year, but I'm at work and very very tired so I might come up with more l8r.

Doug....you might be right about A.I. I know it was seriously flawed but i found it strangely compelling viewing...until the last 30 minutes.I guess that it's number 10 in the list and it's been quite a turd of a year for films speaks volumes!?

    Hi,

For me, there wasn't 10 films that were good enough to be made into a list. However, I would include the following, in no particular order, mind:-

    1) Brotherhood Of The Wolf
    2) Amelie
    3) Lord Of The Rings - The Fellowship Of The Ring
    4) Battle Royale

i've got to agree here.....i don't think there's 10 good enough films of 2001 to warrant a "best of ...." list!!

    Only 4:

    LOTR
    Hairy Pouter
    The Others
    The Man Who Wasn't There

but The Others was the best.

    Regards,

Think I'll have to agree with the majority here as I too cant really scrape together a top 10.

However, the ones that I have enjoyed at the cinema have been.

    LOTR and A Knights Tale.

    Cheers

    Si

Oh and from what I saw of the trailer for the 2nd installment of the Star Wars....sextuple?? there isn't going to be much there to interest me next year either!! Blade II though mmmm:D

As 'films' go I'd vote for 'Amelie', 'Traffic' and 'Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon'. There's not really been any other stand out 'film' after that for me. 'AI' might have been a good watch under all the nonsense that it finally came out as.

It was a good year for movies (pure entertainment) though. 'The Fast & The Furious' was excellent, as was LOTR and 'Shrek', 'Planet Of The Apes' was decent.

I also enjoyed 'The Contender', '13 Days' and 'Unbreakable'.

I don't do Top 10's though. Hate putting them into an order.

    Very quickly,

    1. The Others
    2. Tears of the Black Tiger
    3. Moulin Rouge
    4. Battle Royale
    5. The Man Who Wasn't There
    6. Lord of the Rings: The Fellowship of the Ring
    7. Brotherhood of the Wolf
    8. Ginger Snaps
    9. Jay and Silent Bob Strike Back
    10. Atlantis: The Lost Empire

(Crouching Tiger would have made it in but I saw it at the LFF in 2000 and I've heard great things about Amelie, but still haven't seen it)

    Runners-Up:
Zoolander, Amores Perros, Unbreakable, Requiem for a Dream, Apocalypse Now Redux, Monsters Inc., Sexy Beast, Shrek

    - Boy, if you forget about the summer blockbusters, there was actually a pretty good selection of movies doing the rounds in 2001!!!!
