I was seeing a biker girl. she had a 125 that she was not using (she had a big bike etc)
I had never ridden, so I paid to get it insured and on road.
few months go by and it's my birthday. she hands me the keys and documents, gets it signed over to me. huge gesture, I said are you sure you don't want some money for it. I didn't want it hanging over me as a debt if you know what I mean. she was cool, it was a present.

ok so we split up about 4months later. I give her all her things back that she asks for. we don't really discuss the bike and she doesn't ask for it back.

another 6months past. I have now passed my test and I'm ready to get rid of the 125 (sell it)
we haven't spoken since break up but should I get in touch and offer the bike back?
shes a friend of my sisters, who thinks I should be offering it back

I'm not sure I should be stressing over this though.

She didn't want it when you were together and didn't want it the 6 months later. It's your bike, I'd just sell it.

Sell it. If it'll keep your sister happy stick half the cash through the x's letterbox with a note.

Agree with this. Doesn't sound like she's very bothered about it.
Technically you don't need to give her anything, but might be a nice gesture to give her some money or maybe a small gift, seeing as it was a huge gesture on her part to give you the bike.

I'd give her half, it was a nice present and it would make you feel better.

    ^^^
It's a win-win-win scenario as it's 'free money' for both you and your ex, and your sister gets to tell the rest of her friends what a thoroughly nice guy you are. ;)

Yeah....unless you ride a Harley......in which case you'll be rightly ignored by anyone other than Harley riders. ;)

I'll need a picture before I can make a decision, and I'm not talking about the old bike, or the 125.....

I assume you are selling it to buy a bigger bike or maybe a car, not just beause it reminds you of her? If you were still going out you wouldn't give her half the money from the sale, so why should you now? I think it would be a very nice gesture on your part if you did, but I cant think why she might expect you to if you didn't do anything about it when you split up.

Offer her half as others have said, if she refuses, why not offer to pay that half to a charity?
