First off, I'm rather new to this projection stuff but catching up fast.

Anyway, I've just seen this on the French magazine Les années laser. I thought you would enjoy it:

Last 15th June, on the occasion of Johnny Hallyday's birthday, Jean-Perre Joyet et Barco have projected footage of the last rally of Morocco on a 5-meter-wide screen, outdoors.

The Barco ELM R12 projector was set on a balcony, 35 metres away, linked via SDI to a Sony Digital Betamax player. Some figures on this jaw-dropping projector:

    Brightness: 12.000 ANSI lumens.
    Resolution: 1600 x 1280 pixels.
    Length: 1.40 m
    Weight: 134 kg
    Estimated lamp life: 750 hours
Price: around 93,000 GBP (lens included)
    Lamp price: around 4,000 GBP

    Preorders anyone?
    :D

I hate to tell you this but there are a number of these units in Home Cinema applications around the world. There may even be one in UK!

True resolotion of the R12 is 1280 x1024

Shame a betacam only produces a quater of that resolution
