What are your tactics when playing monopoly? Do you go for a few cheap streets or head for the expensive green and blue stuff. Do you favour the utilities or leave them and the stations well alone.

I remember seeing an article on the most cost effective streets a while back but can't think where.

The game is back in vogue in the Diversity household and I need the best chance of winning

The orange set Bow,marlborough,Vine were always a guaranteed winner for me, I'd dedicate my cash solely to securing all 3 Oranges, and going straight to min. 3 houses on each.

you get a lot of people caught on their way out of jail....

I always go for yellow, green, blue, utilities and stations. This method helped me to win every time. I find that everyone else just buys what they land on and lose a lot of money that way.

I tend to go for the blues, pinks and oranges - maybe reds. Avoid the stations and utilities because they take a long time to pay back

:lesson: The best way to win is to buy EVERYTHING you land on. No buts.

I used to play prudently but the first game I had with my then g/f,now wife, I lost miserably. Next game I employed her tactics and won! Its the only way forward. I am currently the house champion (and she always complains I nicked her tactics :)

    Agreed. Mortgage if necessary.
If it comes to swapping to get a set, then the ones at the end of a side are better value (same cost of buildings, but bigger rents). Orange and Yellow a good bet.

i find getting drunk and knocking the board over to be a valid tactic. :D but in some quarters its called cheating

also buying all the property on one side of the board reaps dividends too.

However, if want a family row - play RISK makes monopoly look calm :D A couple of years ago three members of my family stopped talking to me after i conquered the known world one christmas afternoon :D

Me and Mrs Buzz no longer play Risk, she is by far the most flukey dice roller the world has ever seen. This game has caused more arguements between us then anything else. Maybe thats why its called Risk. You risk your home, marriage, sanity
