My own personal top favourite games and moments:
(updated 14th April 2018)

1. Wipeout. New favourite since a few months ago. This game is my staple VR diet. I play it regularly, often as a "wind down" from another VR game. This game is simply mind blowing in its achievement. Fast, yet no motion sickness inducing because of the high level of smooth rendering and of course PSVR's amazing framerate. More importantly its FUN and progressive.

2. Moss. Another new favourite. Remember the amazing Rescue Bots mini game in Playroom VR? Its like that but ten times more beautiful.

3. Farpoint (with Aim Controller). That aim controller makes all the difference in immersion in this fantastic FPS shooter. A quite stunning experience and although allowing a flexible movement in any direction, it is clearly developed to overcome the PSVR's front camera base play-space limitation by driving the action forwards and to the sides, but still giving you a sense of freedom to move around. Brilliant execution and a pretty cool scifi narrative setup to boot. I think Fat_Tony, one of the PSVR thespians here, recommended this as an absolute must buy (with the Aim Controller) which I took his recommendation to heart and yep, he was right, it was worth the £50 investment even if no other games use the aim controller yet BUT...I really hope there will be more games coming to make use of this awesome aim controller as it really gives you a great feel of holding an assault rifle in-game and having great control over your firing. The graphics are great with fluid action including exhilarating battle arena setpieces. Only gripe is aliens are kinda repetitive which are all very crab looking but occasionally bigger sizes come along! But its a stunning gaming experience.

This is also surprisingly quite a physical game and serve as a moderate calorie burning activity.

Update April 2018: I wrote the above at a half way point of the game and initially had this at number 5. I have now completed it and bump this up to number one as the second half evolved into a poignant narrative with a new variety of enemies to battle with.

My full thoughts: Farpoint (VR)

4. Arizona Sunshine. This pretty much is on the level of enjoyment that I had with Farpoint. What sets this apart is the charismatic "They Live" kicking butt style protagonist that we play as.

5. Superhot. In virtual Reality I feel like Neo from Matrix. But in reality look like Mr Bean. Awesome and unique an experience you can get. Big core workout too.

6. Robinson The Journey: Slated on its release because of its high price but ignoring price this is the most beautiful VR game I have played so far. A big VR exclusive production environment brimming with life (small creatures mostly but occasionally and breathtakingly, big dinosaurs), fun companions in the form of a C3PO-esque ball droid and a baby T-rex. A leisurely exploration game with a nice narrative (NOT a shoot em-up) with moments of awe, thrill and excitement. My number one favourite despite unable to use move controllers that would have made it an even better experience.

My full thoughts: Robinson: The Journey

7. Battlefront Rogue One VR. I am a Star Wars fan and I'll be honest, a huge factor in my purchasing PSVR was for this...well, OK I would have still purchased the PSVR anyway but my anticipation was ten-fold because of this particular experience. So did it meet my expectations? Hell yes until it heartbreakingly ends so soon :( (Just one mission) But still, this is a fantastic experience flying an X wing in an exciting mission and actually being part of the storyline of the brilliant Rogue One movie, especially with K2SO's sarcastic voice acting adding a touch of spark to the experience. An absolute must for Star Wars fans.

8. Star Trek Bridge Crew: I have only played the solo missions. And I haven't even experienced its new awesome feature of voice command which sadly is unavailable for weeks and still is. Apparently, that voice command feature enhances the experience even more. Its a real Trekkie spasm sensation playing this game.

9. Tumble VR A tower blocks puzzle game with 70 levels and various challenges within each level itself. I absolutely love puzzle solving games but this game uses physical VR interactivity as part of the puzzle solving mechanism and does so to brilliant effect and elegance. The challenges are wonderfully progressive and well implemented. Tower blocks building is the main gameplay but levels are also mixed with mines, mirrors and laser puzzles in the mix. Some levels actually caused me unexpected vertigo which you might consider either as an unwanted side effect or a bonus effect! For me, its a kinda bonus effect but there were a couple of moments I felt woozy, so I recommend playing this seated. Early on playing this game, I had a tendency to put my controller on the blocks platform in front of me which of course doesnt bloody exist in the real world. Good thing my living room is old fashion carpet and not modern hard flooring!

I have to say, despite the bigger budget and heavier VR experience games that I own, this is the one that is the most addictive for me so far.

This is currently half price in the PS summer sale for £3.49...I think that's an absolute steal and a must buy imho, guys.

10. PS Worlds. This 5 game/experience compilation is in my favourites list for two reasons. It gave me the some of the best VR moments than any other game. Namely, wow moments in Ocean Descent and London Heist and for a brilliantly addictive gameplay in Danger Ball which is so far the most physically active game I've played so far and really works up a sweat. I also enjoyed the other games on this disc too. Even VR Luge which has garnered quite a lot of hate had much longevity for me, though I get why some hate it. Its bloody hard to complete but its just a matter of keep on practicing and performing certain speed moves. But this is overall a fantastic variety package that really pushed the PSVR potential, just a shame that some of the experiences are too short. But Danger Ball and even VR Luge has me coming back to it on a very regular basis.

My full thoughts: PSVR General

11. Trackmania Turbo one of four games in my favourites list that was initially a non VR game given a VR Mode. The whole game is not given the VR treatment but 40 tracks are given a separate VR campaign and its absolutely exhilarating.

Trackmania Turbo (VR mode)

12. Drive Club VR. I am not a racing fan but I love this! After playing the superb demo, I had to buy the full version and its absolutely worth it. The feel of racing in a car is fantastic and yeah, so what if the graphics are not as high res as playing in 2d, its still bloody good enough and the driving sensation way compensates for that lack of graphic fidelity. imho of course ;) There are three views, default in car seat perspective, external car perspective and invisible car perspective, like you are the car itself...which is quite an exhilarating sensation, not to mention the fact that the whole outside is now open view all round you, whoaaaaaaa.....love it.

13. Playroom VR. You know that "You had me at Hello" Jerry Macguire moment? Well playroom VR is my equivalent as this was what I baptised my PSVR with. And I absolutely recommend that this be the first baptism for any newbie PSVR owner too, especially that is absolutely free on PS Store. It is a superb VR collection of games featuring cute playstation playbots that pushes the PSVR capabilities in a superbly immersive way, particularly the platform gaming section where you have to rescue playbots. In fact I love the fluid motion control in this platform game than that implemented in upcoming Moss game which is demo'd on the PSVR demo disc 2. I have not played any VR platform game that matches the playability and aesthetic of this, (and I have played every single demo there is available). I hope future platforming games can implement this method. The other Playroom VR activities are also fun too but the platforming section is exceptional.

14: Bravo Team. NOT THE WORST VR GAME as Eurogamer and some other mainstream reviewers would have you believe but it is certainly a flawed game. Nevertheless, this is still a worthy big production VR shooter game to give you a very good experience...as long as you own an AIM CONTROLLER.

My full thoughts: Bravo team - March 2018
and on finishing: Bravo team - March 2018

15. Bound. A PS Plus game. I love these sort of inventive, abstract platforming puzzle solving games and this is pretty damn cool in VR scale. My only gripe is the camera control is cumbersome and can annoy me at times as I get too distant from my dancing protagonist and having to try catch up to her but the game's other elements make up for that annoyance and still makes my list of favourites.

Games I am looking forward to playing in 2018:

Wayward Sky. I played the demo and loved the feel of this, its on my wishlist.
Astrobots Rescue Mission
Creed VR

Biggest disappointment:

Resident Evil 7....As a VR game, its quite frustrating but as a horror suspense game, its great but the VR implementation is quite jarring for me. This game seems made for 2D playing and then converted to VR but I am surprised to learn that it was made for VR ground up. Its only DS4 controlled too (not that makes it a bad thing, mind you, that's fine). I hadn't come back to this after my intitial 3-4 hour of gaming with it though, so I should give it another chance. There is also so too much frazzle edges in the graphics, its quite annoying. Perhaps this might be a better performing game on PS4 Pro?

If any of you care to know my detailed thoughts on PSVR in my early days of owning it, I wrote a couple of posts in the general chat thread:

My spasm moment on first use:
PSVR General

My analytical thoughts after a few days:
PSVR General

(original post when I started this thread) 2017 is nearly over, I was waiting for one of you PSVR thespians (hey PSVR is just over a year old!) would create a thread to summarising our favourite PSVR games this year. I only had the headset for about 6-7 weeks, so didnt feel qualified but...I have played a few games and enjoyed the headset almost every single day since buying it. So I thought I create this thread as I absolutely want to know what all your favourite PSVR games are...and also what you thought were not so good or disappointing. I (and am sure many others including the likely recent surge of new PSVR owners that took advantage of the incredible sales recently) would love to know what games you thought were the most addictive, which games had the best moments and not just games but dedicated VR experiences too like Allumette.

I'll kick off with my limited ownership thoughts but in summary, in my 6-7 weeks of owning it, PSVR turns out to be one of my third favourite toy ever since my first telescope (my main hobby is astronomy) and a Spectrum 48k in the eighties. I am not new to VR itself as I have being enjoying mobile VR for nearly two years before this but PSVR is an astonishing upgrade in terms of immersion.

However, I dont use PSVR just for the VR games and experiences but also for its convenient Cinematic mode so I can play games, watch Blu rays/Netflix etc on a large cinema screen (a tremendous joy in its own right) while rest of family can watch their own stuff on the TV. Only drawback is I become a tad less sociable to the family! But no more fighting who gets to watch we want anymore, thank you PSVR!

Yep, agree it is scary and a great horror game for the few hours I played. I just felt the VR aspect was very unpolished. I intend to go back on it soon, though, perhaps my thoughts on that aspect might differ from my first impressions.

Best VR game by far, headmaster, its always my go to game and the party mode is great with mates.

I don't know how it is on a Base PS4 but on the Pro it's one of the best VR games you can get, also there is a setting that helps with motion sickness by darkening the visuals making them less detailed, I can't remember exactly which one it is just go through and turn them off to find it and you may find it looks better.

Also Give Batman a go yes it's short but the experience is well worth it, entering the bat cave for the first time is just something that has to be seen, there is some re-playability by collecting Riddler trophies to unlock character and vehicle models, seeing full sized TV /Movie batmobiles is great.

Tried the demo and I’m rubbish at it

Started playing ST Bridge Crew last night, being a massive Trekkie, this is definitely my favourite so far.

Can’t wait to get on the bridge of the original Enterprise, but people have said best not to try that until you know what you’re doing.

ST alone for me is almost worth the cost of the PSVR :)

Other highlights were Tumble, and started London Heist, but I’ve been advised to wait and get the move controllers to get the best out of it.

Got Doom to try today.

The two major stand outs from the past year for me are Resi and Star Wars

Star Wars was just a 40 year life long dream to fly a X-wing, just how can you ever top that!

Resi for me was superb too, a full AAA 2D game and on the same disc was the complete same version in VR, to me that's the perfect world, where every (where suitable) game does this.

I don't understand how Capcom did this so brilliantly within 6 month of launch, yet no other developer has come close to it!

Next best thing we got was Skyrim, which doesn't look as good, (admittedly a 6 yr old game) was a separate disc at extra cost.

Other highlights were London Heist, The COD demo was great actually, played that alot.
I actually massively enjoy watching family and friends enjoying it.

I need to get some Move controllers and my next purchase u think will be UltraWings.

I sold my V1 after not using it for ages, now i have a V2 its a much cleaner set up so im using it more.

My one massive HUGE want ever since PSVR was announced is Elite Dangerous. I beg and prey and pester the devs for info all the time, i just think it it was coming it would be here by now, :( or an announcement its NOT coming, i can only hope they are holding it back for a yr 2 release, like 1 year after PS4 launch to boost sales again.

Another thing im interested to see how it works i this:

Sounds like I need to pick up a cheap copy of Battlefront so I can do the VR mission.

Would love to see Elite. Not getting a pc vr setup anytime soon and no sign of anything vr related yet for Xbox, so would happily buy it again on PS4.

What do you mean by “cleaner set up” with V2? Less wires or something?

Yes exactly, its the built in headphones, you now have 1 wire out to the headset and put in the earphones, before it was headset on, headphones on, connect up headphones to inline jack, struggle to find volume buttons if you need to alter it, then taking it all off again after.

Much cleaner/faster set up now.

You must get SWBF1 just for the VR demo, its been as cheap as £5 for the complete game recently.

I’m just using the ear bud things that came with it, so pretty much leave them attached.

So far, not too much of an issue.

Off to scour ebay for a cheap copy of Battlefront :)

Yes thats my point, on the V1 version, there was no built in earbuds, just a inline dongle, you had to connect your own headphones into. much more messy. wires everywhere

£5.75 for the base game, that’ll do for me. Only want it for the VR, won’t be playing the rest, got it and the second one on Xbox.

Game is selling a pre-owned version for a fiver:

Star Wars: Battlefront

Got rid of it now but my favs were Headmaster and Rush of Blood.

Yeah, wires everywhere is something they really need to sort out. Higher res and wireless, I’d happily pay a good bit for that now I know how Good it is.

As I said, I’ve left the earbuds attached to the dongle, so just a matter of headset on, stick them in my ears. Don’t notice any wires anyway once the visor is on

V2 would’ve been nice, but happy with the saving as my first toe in the VR waters.

Having now played Star Trek Bridge Crew for the last few days, I am now adding it to my favourites...in fact it may well tumble Tumbler Vr off my top spot. I have only played the solo missions. And I havent even experienced its new awesome feature of voice command which sadly is unavailable for weeks and still is. Apparently, that voice command feature enhances the experience even more. Its a real Trekkie spasm sensation playing this game.

I'm coming to realise that PSVR has delivered two of the most popular franchises, the most geeky gaming experiences ever, in Star Wars and Star Trek and I suspect going by other people's reactions the Batman franchise may well be too but I haven't played that yet.

Batman is short but amazing and there are so proper freak out moments towards the end. Entering the bat cave for the first time is pretty special.

Yep and the bit up on the roof, thought that looked fantastic, liked that you had to turn right the way around.

Was only disappointed that you didn’t get to go in the Batmobile or Batwing.

Its a shame they didn't include that. Even if they didn't move, just sitting in the seat and looking at all the screens and controls would have been a great moment.

Just want to add:

Robinson The Journey to my favourites list having completed it a couple days ago. I still find myself loading this up instead of moving on to new games. This world is the most beautiful VR world so far I've experienced and brimming with life (small creatures mostly but occasionally and breathtakingly, big dinosaurs). Now my number one favourite despite it not using Move controllers which would have made it an even better experience.

My full thoughts: Robinson: The Journey

Not played anywhere near as much as I would like but gave superhot a proper go the other night and it is just superb

Just unlocked the nurburgring on gt sport (lvl20) and went round in a didge hellcat at twighlight. My fave vr moment so far!

Batman VR for me, I could happily stare at the life size 3D right-there-in-front-of-you Harley all day... If only Poison Ivy or Catwoman were part of the hologram library

That aside, it's an amazing VR experience, plenty of reply value too once you open up the Riddler puzzles

Would add Farpoint to this list now.
The aim controller adds a massive level of immersion and the game is excellent
