Your favourite action scenes in the MCU

While warming up for Captain Marvel I skimmed through some of the battle scenes in some of the recent MCU films and was thinking about which were my favourites. I really need another girlfriend.

Top 10:

10. Iron Man & War Machine vs Hammer Drones- Iron Man 2

Firepower porn.

9. Battle of Xandar- Guardians of the Galaxy

In 3d (IMAX) bluray this is the best looking thing that has ever been on my TV screen.

8. Stairwell/Highway chase - Captain America: Civil War

A continuation of Winter Solider's bludgeoning awesomness.

7. Mansion Attack - Iron Man 3

The best thing about that film.

6. Battle of Titan/Wakanda- Infinity War

Two simultaneous epics. Exhilarating stuff especially Dr Strange vs Thanos and, in Wakanda, the best superhero entrance EVER.

5. Battle of New York - The Avengers

A joyful classic.

4. Airport fight - Civil War

Amazing showcase for all the characters abilities.

3. Hulk vs Hulkbuster - Avengers Age of Ultron

Brilliantly directed and so spectacular.

2. Highway battle/car chase - Captain America The Winter Soldier

Literally breathtaking.

1. The Endgame/snap - Infinity War
upload_2019-3-14_12-20-27.png

No question this is one of the most devastating and awe-inspiring scenes in the whole genre; Thanos' ominous arrival, the Avengers' desperate attempts to slow him down, Wanda's emotional decision, the cruel reversal of fortunes, the expectation subverting climax, and the catastrophic consequences. Wow.

Honorable mentions: Battle of Sokovia, Helicarrier battle (Winter Soldier), all of Thor Ragnarok.

What are yours?

id definitely throw in the lift scrap from Winter Soldier.... it builds for ages before finally going all out. From the same movie as well the attempted assassination of Nick Fury - the attack itself is well organised with bad guys that have come prepared (the hammer thing on the door for example) and well organised - ok we know it fails but they push him exactly where they need him.

A recent one that sticks in my mind is from Infinity War.

Vision and ‘Witch are getting a good hiding in Edinburgh. They end up in Waverly Train Station (I think) and as our heroes lie beaten and bruised, a train whizzes past and The baddie lady realises theirs a lone figure stood on the opposite platform after the train has passed.

She throws her futuristic spear with the intent of despatching the shadowy figure- but it’s in vain as the spear, in full flight is caught by the figure..it’s Cap and he’s come out of the the shadows to dish out his own justice and support his friends..whatta guy!

The huge climatic, planet hopping finale to Infinity War has to top it for me.
Battle for New York in Avengers is epic too.
Shout out to the air port sequence in Civil War and the Xander finale battle in GOTG....Oh and the helicarriers at the end of Winter Soldier !:rotfl:

Thor's kicking ass and taking names as the god of thunder (minus his hammer) to the soundtrack of Led Zeppelin in Ragnorak has me out of me seat punching the air every time!!

This will sound petty, but the double use of the same Zeppelin song took the edge off for me. Would have loved thunderstruck for the second fight scene instead..

Agreed, although the opening scene (also to Led Zep) with Mjolnir is pretty sweet too.

Yes, especially the "Mjolnir-cam" :)

Actually, Thunderstruck would've worked better for the first scene thinking about it.

I still hum the Immigrant Song to myself when he makes his entrance with Stormbreaker in Infinity War !!

Yeah, its more the repeated use more than fitting the scene for me. It didn't help that I read an article beforehand stating the director was really happy to have secured the rights to the song, so when I heard it twice, I rolled my eyes thinking they're really getting their moneys worth out of Zeppelin, as I say, a petty criticism :D
