You must be really honest now! Did u really believe that I drowned my PC?

Did you believe (even for a second) that my PC sleeps with the fishes?

There are no maybe's or kinda's in this poll. You either didn't believe for even a fraction of a second or you must vote yes!

I must say that I have never had so much fun on the net in my entire life (apart from playing "Tidy the tools" on Bob the Builder's web site)

Thanks to you all for giving me my fifteen minutes of fame as the stupidest person on the net:D My Mam is so proud!!!

Sorry Conor, you've had your fun. We don't want 20000 new registered users with names like Stupid-ass.

Thread CLOSED.

No more posts on this subject allowed.

I'm reversing this decision.
I'm keeping an eye on new registrations. I'd like to know who believed it. Obviously a few people did.

I voted No, I've seen a lot of Conor's previous posts and couldn't believe he would have been stupid enough to do this. I did waver a bit by page 3 but then back again when our US cousins waded in and Conor lightened up a bit.

It's the funiest thing I've seen for a long time. Scary thing is somebody will do this!!

Conor, you really did brighten up my day yesterday. A friend of mine passed away on Sunday and I was feeling low. Your thread was the only thing that brought a smile to my face.

I didn't believe you and the only reason I said I'd give you the benefit of the doubt was so I had reason to defend the other board members.

Was a bloody hilarious thread, written like a true nonce :D

Mostly from HardOCP. #14 is totally off topic !!
While the forums are genuinely busy with the previous highest # of simultaneous users being at 300 and something, in one night, that figure has doubled. I suspect the traffic report at the end of this week will show gazillions of banner impressions but only a tiny increase in clicks.

Well I came over from Scoobynet, though I did register here last December ish when I was buying a new TV, though my post count isnt great ;)

I believed it after a while - couldnt believe anyone could be so stupid, but Comor seemed to keep saying it was true all the time, which led me to believe it.

I have to admit, I've only just registered after reading that post, but I've had a look around the other threads and forums and wonder why I haven't posted here before.

I was ROTFLMAO at the first post, but then I felt really sorry for him as he posted more words of grief and upset about how it wasn't a wind up etc.

So yes, I did believe him a little bit but I knew it had to be a wind up because anyone who had worked with computers for 7 years would know that water and pc's don't mix :(

It was a really funny joke though and you've made my morning.

/me goes off to read the dvd wanted/trade forums :D

I`ve been a membe of these boards for a few months although I usually post on ocs and xaprief. Someone had posted this link over on ocs and I laughed my ass off.

There was a moment of uncertainty and I must say You held up really well there comer but come on not even americans are stoopid enough to fill their pooters with water...... Oh well bad analogy :p

3 reasons why I did not believe (oh how I wish it had been true :D )
1 He mentioned his mother in law.
2 he said the lights went out, most modern circuit breakers separate lights from the ring main, sounded to corny.
3 No body is that stupid, not this side of the pond anyway :clown: at least I HOPE nobody is that stupid......

The only possibility, IMO, is that he did do it to an old PC to see what would happen and then embellished...for a laugh.

Being Conor's brother, I obviously knew it was a joke. He can be quite strange at times, but he's not that stupid.

Also, as he pointed out, neither of his children are called "Forrest". However, one IS called "Ozzy".

I must admit that I was one of the people who reistered yesterday just to post a reply. I'm surprised that Conor didn't tell me about this forum before. I've been having a look around, and it really is very good.

As for the person who pointed out that when turning on the PC it should not have tripped the switch for lights in the house, you are absolutely right. It should only have tripped the switch for sockets. So saying that the "house ws plunged into darkness" was very sloppy of you Conor. I'm deeply embarrased and ashamed that you could make such a fundemental mistake. Especially considering that you teach this stuff. Mum will not be impressed!

1. I asked my mother in law to come over because she is an electrician and I didn't want to end up doing anything stupid
2. Good one, I didnt think of that
3. You'd be very surprised

I thought the big mistake that people would spot was how could I have opened the the DVD drive to put in the water if the PC was un-plugged. I really didn't think that anyone would believe me specially when I said that I had built a few PCs and had been working with them for so long:)

Good fun though and great advertising for this forum

It’s no good trying to wriggle out of it now. We all know that you wired the house yourself and that you used a knife to prise open the CD drawer.

It’s obvious that you did it, otherwise how would you know how heavy the computer was. ;)

The biggest giveaway was that you said your wife was watching when you switched it on for the first time, but then you said that you hadn't told her yet. ;)

Not really, the idea was that my wife had known that I'd filled it with water but she did not yet know that emptying the water and drying the PC had not fixed it. Lets face it only an idiot would marry someone who fills PCs with water

Only 15% so far admitting that they believed it. I think that should be at least 75% judging by the replies. I must admit I only joined yesterday after a friend sent me the URL, and sorry Conor but I didn't fall for it. Very nice tale but I don't think you could ever have believed that so many people would fall for it!!

Please feel free to use my "Powered By natural Gas" idea, perhaps your next adventure should be on the Corrig Natural gas field, combine water cooling and the natural gas.

:clown: :) :D :) :clown:
