After having read my way through a lot of posts, discussions and websites I've decided to expand my budget a little to accommodate a good sub. Here's what im looking at:

    -MJ Acoustics Pro50
    -REL Quake
    -BK XLS200

I will be using about 50/50 for music and films, so which would be the best bet? Thanks

What's wrong with either the velo vx-10 or cht-10 - definately worth a look as well as those listed imo?

God said that his requirement was for 50% music listening and IMO the BKE and MJA are more suitable.

As you say that the VX10 is worth a look, have you heard this or are you merely speculating ?

MJA Ref 100 is only it bit more than the pro 50 but has a bigger amp and a really pretty LED display on the back. I like it a lot with music & movies. I still fiddle with the gain from time to time, but apart from that, it just sit in the corner buzzing/booming to itself

What HiFi gave it 5 stars this month (I know that means jack really)

I found the VX-10 to be great with movies AND music. I did buy a Behringer Feedback Destroyer and spent an afternoon sorting out my room boom though!

If you go down that route, I'm selling mine in the classifieds for £175. :)

Why not give RS a call and see what price they are doing on the Paradigum PW1000 or maybe the PW2200.

If the servo is reduced then there could be a (slim) chance that the others might be.

I'm sure that both of them would be as good as the ones you mention.

Although i have not heard any of them.
I have seen the Quake in the shops and cannot see how it can move a lot of air.

I was speculating regarding the VX-10 but find my cht-10 more than copes with musical duties and compares favourably to the Rel Quake. All the VX-10 owners seem to sing the praises of this budget sub and I wouldn't of wanted them to overlook the quality velodyne products offer on a limited budget when drawing up a short list of subwoofers to compare.
