Movietyme is way better mate. First of all Yesaisa charging full retail price.:( Pricey than Movietyme and none of the HD-DVDs are in stock. At least Movietyme got handful of stocks on their Same Day Dispatch page. Movietyme still my first choice.

Yesasia do have the Japanese HD-DVD releases for anyone who's interested though.

Amazon Japan are cheapest for the Japanese titles as long as you pre-order them. They cost about £22 after shipping.

Yesasia.com and Amazon.jp list titles I haven't seen on HD-DVD in the States - like Brothers Grimm, The Pianist etc. - the specs say specifically these titles are for HD-DVD and won't play on Blue Ray, and that they have an English soundtrack. Is this really the case?

    Interesting . . .

Yep, Japan has some different titles to the US. All (so far) are encoded using AVC not VC-1 and generally have a DD+ soundtrack.

Titles out so far (that arent already available in the US),

    Finding Neverland
    Brothers Grimm
    Equilibrium

    Titles coming soon,

    Jersey Girl - 25/08/2006
    Oliver Twist - 25/08/2006
    The Pianist - 25/08/2006
    The Gift - 22/09/2006
    The Machinist - 22/09/2006

There are some other titles like Old Boy and Shinobi, but they dont have english subtitles.

AVC? VC-1? I take it these are something to do with the compression system. Do I also assume that VC-1 is used by most US HD-DVDs and AVC is inferior?

I just tried doing a search in this forum for VC-1 and found nothing :-(

    Please elucidate!

    Many thanks.

Yes the releases in Japan are in AVC and the US releases are in VC-1 (all but 'Rattle & Hum' which is AVC also i think).
