    Hi
I was wondering if anyone can tell me why i am getting this yellow patch on the right hand side of screen.
I have got a Toshiba 42WH36 rear projector tv which is still under warranty till 2009 so if it is a major problem i can get it sorted under my warranty.
I was also wondering if a small surround sound speaker can cause this yellow patch as i have one next to the tv but i dont get the patch on the left hand side where the other speaker sits.
I would really appreciate your help thanks.

It will not be the speaker, could be the coolant on the CRTS that has aged perhaps

Thanks for your reply scooby do.
The tv is only 3 years old so would the coolant on the CRTS still be aged and should i call my insurer to get it sorted.

I would definatley call them, especially if the problem has developed recently. It isn't that you now have a test disk with colour fields that are bringing you to notice the problems. Sometimes ignorance is bliss. CRT RP if you have a good one are hard to beat but can display problems that show up during intensive testing.

This is a typical convergence problem on these types of set. I have had a couple and one was so bad that all the writing going up the screen at the end of a film was yellow.

A sevice menu calibration will fix it. Whn you bring up the crosshatch screen you will see that the green and red grids will be ok (Making yellow) but the blue grid will have drifted.

It makes a whole lot of difference doing a calibration like this from the service menu to the whole picture.

If you do take this on do not alter the green grid. This will affect the geometry!!

Plenty of tips and instuctions on this if you do a search via this forum or google it.

    Regards

    Thanks for the reply Mark.
I did go into the convergence menu and i have only got red and blue cross grids which you have to fit over a white cross so all you see is the white which means your picture should be perfect.(Yellow patch still there).

You need to do a "service menu" convergence. This is not the same as you are trying.

Search the forums on how to do it, well worth it!!

The 55 inch SXRD would fit the bill nicely if comet can get hold of one for you.

Thanks mate but i have heard sony have took the SXRD off the market.
I was actually looking at getting a good flat screen rather than another rear projection tv.

I suggest you move your attention to the Plasma and LCD forums, then. You'll get different answers in each, from which you should be able to distil out something that will help.
