I have seen a few posts about this, but what is it, what does it do and does it work? My Amps power supply is interfering with with my TV. I'm also pretty sure that my mains isn't very clean.

How do you connect them up? If its like a kettle lead its now good for me because all my power cables are hard wired into the devices.

They usually come either with the 'figure 8' or 'IEC 320' style connectors.

However, they sell both 'male' and 'female' IEC 320 connectors. In their brochure they suggest cutting 'hard wired' cables about 3" out of the unit, fitting an IEC 320 male connector to the wire, then using a YellO cable with a IEC 320 female and a std 3-pin plug.

YellO is a high quality mains cable available from Russ Andrews.

For a test on various mains cables, try here.

If you select Cables from the menu on the left, and you'll see 'AC Power Cord Comparison' at the top of the list. Although the YellO is not represented it makes an interesting read.

I know of 3 different manufacturers of power/line conditioners that market or make models for the UK. Russ Andrews is one (see above).

Another is PSaudio. Although American, their devices can output at 240V/50Hz. The website is quite comprehensive with a lot of technical specs (and a good deal of marketing spiel mixed in with this too). From reviews Stateside it would seem to be a very effective way of cleaning your mains, but is rather expensive.

Finally there is the HiField Electronics Clearpower. I recently bought their TLB403 model, rated at 2.5kVA and costing @£330, though they manufacture various models from £240 to £380. So far I have noticed a reduction in mains hum, a greater openess in the mid range, and a smoother treble response. Their machines offer surge protection against lightning (our village power supply was struck the day after I hooked it all up!) and filtering of RF from terrestrial and sattelite TV (and FM).

I've got two yello cables. One for amp and one for my dvd player.

Advertised as giving "sweeter treble and deeper bass" (or something like that).
I haven't really noticed too much difference at the moment. You're told to bed them in for a three weeks and I'm currently in my second week. I'll keep you posted.

John, Jeff bought these 6 years ago, this thread was bumped because a 'retailer' wanted to make a sales pitch. :( 600%?
