Hi peeps ! Just placed my order for a PB12-Ultra/2 at last, I found a good home for my B&W ASW3000, another home cinema nut john bought her off me & shes headed up northwards to live. Now all i have to do is wait or approx 10-12 day for the new arrival, will be exciting to have the patter of little feet about the house again, opps, wrong, i mean the rumble of large drivers..........hehe

A few days ago I stumbled on this review, which is a good thing to know about ones chosen subwoofer.

From the SVS site is it easy to see the B4+ as their flagship, their 'final answer' to subwoofers for the home market. Until now leaving me in doubt if I should have gone for the (possibly) slightly better B4+, in stead of my current PB12-Ultra/2. A quote from the review:

In the eyes (ears?) of the reviewer Craig Chase his SVS B4+ is bested by the ACI Maestro in sound quality. I hear you say: "what has this got to do with the PB12-Ultra/2 I just ordered??", well here's the answer:

Edward J Mullen (highly respected reviewer of subwoofers) is going to compare both the PB12-Ultra/2 and the ACI Maestro soon (link), and probably throw in a comparison with the "untouchable" Velodyne DD18 as well. I can't wait!

Thanks guys, yes i went for the fine textured black, simply because it will blend in with my other equipment easliy, & although the Piano gloss black looks nice, the shine would reflect the light to much light while watching movies(& its $300 more), so textured black it is.................im getting excited......... :D

    Happy for you, lads. :)

Also the textured black ain't so sensitive about dust as the piano gloss. Can only imagine, cause I'm so lazy @house-cleaning and my textured black gets some dust, allright.. :D

I think that much of the DD-18's untouchability is to do with it's room equalisation which will soon be available as a stand alone module. Last year Secrets awarded the DD-18 it's award for "Subwoofer Technology of The Year" with the accent being on the word "technology"

It wouldn't surprise me if the three subwoofers all turned in very similar real world performance levels but I look forward to Ed's review with great interest.

    Nice one Rip:)
Did you pay by credit card, 'cos it's taking SVS an age to get clearance on my Plus/2, never had a delay from the states before?

Hi Des, I had to go into my bank to get them to authorise it. That done, the funds cleared immediately.
Hope it arrives soon for you!

    Hi Rip,

You are in for real treat, just listened to "I Robot" DVD on my own PB12/Ultra 2 and it is unbelievable! It drowns the whole house in pure pure clean bass!

Have had it 6 months now and it just gets even better. It has never even once ran out of headroom or distorted even slghtly for one millisecond. It is the only component I`ve ever bought that I`ve never had a single doubt over and even less so after 6 months.

It`s genuinely worth 2 to 3 times it`s price. Enjoy!!!!!

Its been under six months since they re-branded the PB2 Ultra the PB12-Ultra/2, but the unit itself has been around for about a year I think...

It won't rip, you have to buy an iec power lead for it. (kettle lead) I would like to know what fuse rating it needs too. 5A is normal for subs, but I didn't know if it might need 7 or something because of the power.

Does anyone know the answer to this?
