    Hi

Right I've narrowed down my purchase decision to the following

    Yamaha RX-V 1600 and RX-V2500

I dont need the video switching on the 1600 (but would be happy to have it) but I like it's style.

However I can pick up a 2500 for £450 but the cheapest Ican find the 1600 is £699

Will I be getting a Sound Quality improvement with either, has the YPAO system improved or would the extra money be a waste?

Does anyone have any experience with these models?

If as you say you don't need the video options the 1600 offers, IMO go for the 2500:thumbsup:

Have you used or seen the 1600 though?

no offence but we all tend to say "my stuff is great I recommend it"

If the 1600 sounds even a little better i'd probably go with that and have the future proofing of the HDMI thrown in.

    I Have?

I'm not saying the 1600 DOES sound better, I'm asking if anyone know's if this is the case.

Obviously the 2600 should sound better than the 2500

and the 1600 should sound better than the 1500

but how does the 1600 compare to the 2500?

I can get demos of the current models, but not the old ones...

From what I've read, not much change has been made to the audio side of the 2600 and 1600 compared with 2500 and 1600. The changes are mostly in the video section. Then again, there's not much difference between the 1600 and 2600 on the audio front (just 10W).

If it was my call I'd take the 2500 over the 1600. the 250 quid saving will more than compensate for a separate video upscaler when and if you need it later. I haven't compared the 2 sonically but I'd be very surprised if the 2500 sounded worse than the 1600.
