Yamaha's new star of the micro system scene. With it's high quality finish, standard DAB tuner and class-leading sound quality, the Yamaha CRX-170 has already made many friends. Radio fans are not only treated to Digital Audio Broadcasting (DAB), but also RDS FM and Medium Wave. There are 30 presets for the analogue stations and 10 for digital and with each one the tuning mode (auto or manual) is also memorised. Complementing the tuner is an equally fine CD player. Capable of playing CD-RW discs, the CD player lives up to Yamaha's tradition of providing a "natural sound". With a minimum of 25 watts per channel the amplifier is more powerful than it looks, and has enough power to drive a wide range of speakers including many floor-standers. Around the back you'll find a further 2 inputs and outputs in addition to optical digital and subwoofer outlets.
I recently got hold of one of these and its driving some acoustic energy floor-standers very well and sounds great! Looking for comments from other owners.
