I have the Yahama YHT-196 system (includes Yamaha HTR-2064 amp.).

I have the following connected to the amp.:

    • Sky HD box (HDMI 1, Audio 1 (optical))
    • WD TV Live box (HDMI 2, Audio 4 (optical))
Both boxes connected via. both HDMI and optical audio.

Both boxes are set in Options to route audio through the optical able.

I am having issues with the Sky HD box/connection.

I am using channel 169 (BBC HD) to test. It's currently broadcasting "BBC HD Preview" (which includes a 5.1 speaker test).

When I press HDMI 1 on the amp's remote control, I get the Sky HD appear on the TV, but only in 2.0.

When I press Audio 1 on the amp's remote control, I get the Sky HD in 5.1 but there is no display on the TV.

How can I view Sky HD in 5.1?

If your receiver is anything like mine once you have assigned the optical input to the relevant HDMI input you need to save it as a SCENE.

Ah yeh, we just found it!

On the remote for the amp., we had to choose the HDMI channel we want (e.g. in this case, WD TV Live is on HDMI 2) then press:

    Option > Audio In > Audio 4

    Woo :D
