That would all depend on what model your looking at and what you need the amp to do. HDMI switching, upscaling, mostly AV or music.

Even I need help on similar problem. I am looking for a/v reciever for panasonic th42pv500, sky+ (later sky hd) and denon dvd player (thru component cable). I have got Denon sys dht550sd (which came with denon dht550sd).

I need the a/v reciever to upscale the picture from dvd player and obviously to get the 7.1 sound.

All these amplifiers/receivers have analogue tuners which will be no good when analogue is switched off.

Eventually radio will be digital only as well.

100+ digital radio stations are on $ky.

Go for the one sounding best for your ears.
There is no better than the other but it could actually be a specific feature you need and one has.

I have 2 yamaha recievers as per signature, 559 is new but 395 is nearly 9 years old and still going strong. I tend to prefer the yamaha sound, it doesn't seem to be too in your face, more subtle. The best thing is to audition the one's your thinking about then you can decide for yourself. Hope this helps.

In light no more specific info. My current preference is Onyko, brand wise. I'm not a owner as yet but have auditioned the 605, 805 and 875 all we great. I've got an old low spec Yamaha at the mo which does the job but does not compare to the newer Onkyo's.
