the marantz sr4200 and yamaha 430rds equivalent are available to me at the same price ~ AUS$ 700. the next step up to $900 - 1000 brings the sr4300 and 630rds, and a base hk (2550)

over the years i've come to dislike sony, pioneer and denon (and not for logical reasons, but as there are alternatives i'll take em)

my first impression is that the sr4200 is a bit of a (superceded) bargain.

looking for something which will be used constantly for tv watching and music, and every 3 days or so for dvd watching, in a moderate sized room.

i note the posts re the marantz and audio delay - in fact i seem to have spent the last 6 hrs reviewing posts from searches on marantz and yamaha (thank you all those who have come before)

if you were in my situation, what would you go for?
