looking for my first amp and have a budget of £250 - I've seen the RXV550 for £239 but would like to know if anyone has one and if it's any good. My room is Med/large.

Apperciate any comments or other recommendations.

    Cheers

I had the RX-V450 and was not overly impressed with it. I have been told that if you want go Yamaha, the lowest model to look at would be the RX-V650.

I replaced the Yamaha with a Cambridge Audio Azur 540R and it was like chalk and cheese! Given, the CA does not come with all the gizmos, but its sound, power and build quality is unbeaten at the price.

They are selling at Richer Sounds for £250, so do yourself a favor and go listen to one.

    Agreed....

Consider the second hand market as well. You might find a real bargain and there's nothing wrong with S/hand as amplifiers improve with use. Just make sure all the screws are there :rotfl:
