    Hi all

Looking for anyone that has this or any opions on it?.

Thinking for getting one can get one for £170 whihc seems a good deal.

"6.1 channel decoding and amplification and component video switching (with wide-bandwidth ensuring HDTV compatibility for future use) add class and compatibility and two sets of stereo outputs (both independently switched) give you handy expansion opportunities. 3 S-Video Inputs HDTV (720p/1080i) Compatibility "

One thing that does puzzle me is what does it mean about HDTV compataibility???

    Thanks for any info.

hdtv compatibility means the component switching has enough bandwidth to switch full 1080i signals.

HDTV compatibility means that you can connect through the component input of this amplifier a HD (High Definition) source signal (1080i included according to Yamaha specs), and the receiver is able to process this and output it through the component output to your TV.

It seems Yamaha's are the only receivers in this budget range to offer this funcionality, and in my personal opinion I think it protects you investment from future trends. e.g. If Digital TV becomes a mainstream, or you decide to buy a HD DVD player in the future, you know that you can connect the component outputs of these units to this receiver, and through its component output transmit it to your TV set.
