Does anyone know who has got the 1400 and the 2400 in stock - other than SevenOaks?
I have just found out from 7oaks that Yamaha are only supplying the UK with that cr*p titanium colour but you can get it from Europe in both gold and black. I want a black one - Any ideas other than a can of spray paint!
Avland are the only online retailer I can find, Audio-Excellence in Bristol have it as well as 7oaks Bristol, so I guess more will soon
I must admit, looking at the Manual from Yamaha's site I'll be getting it from Germany. All I need to do is cut the plug off - put on a UK plug and change the Voltage selector. Worth the saving and Yammy will honour the warranty. Just need to find a reputable dealer and thanks to these forum's I've found a couple.
DON'T CUT THE PLUG OFF - instantly invalidate warranty. Use a Euro adapter and no need to change voltage AFAIK
Cheers Wilber, much appreciated.
i dont know of many euro sites that have it, any ideas?
btw dont forget to add english vat onto the price of the items. else customs might start holding your amp hostage
NO NO NO - The UK is part of the european single market. If VAT has been paid in a member state then that's it, there are no taxes to be paid to the government. This is different from vehicle imports where the price you pay to the dealer is excluding VAT & you pay VAT at the UK rate.
ahhhhh, that makes it look a lot better. thanx wilber.
still anyone know of a few sites.
Any sites, please!
I would advise checking earlier threads regarding the 1400 & 2400 for sites.
Unfortunately one of the main sites has removed it from it's list and the others I can find seem to have 45 day delivery stated - ie next year !
If anyone finds a site, I'll probably join you (especially at the German prices).
One other thing, some people may like the gold finish, it does not appear on any sites I've found.
Just found a site and had email correspondence with them - they seem very good unless some one know otherwise. they will take orders over the phone and have english speaking staff. They need a copy of your passport and credit card. 1400 and 2400 are available with delivery on both by the end of November. Price for the 1400 works out about £530 including delivery!!!
They are hifi-regler.de
Any horror stories before I order?
Gary did you get a different price from the one on the web site? - 1400 is 850 Euro which is about £600.
The price on the site is I think the equivalent of a recommended retail price. The prices I was given in email were 739.80 Euros for the 1400 and 889.80 for the 2400. Delivery by the end of November on both
Hi Sorry for the lateness of this...
Technosound in Milton Keynes have taken delivery of one of these, they are asking £799 as well with 2 year gurantee.
Can anyone say where they are available on the continent for £540?
price when you ask is euro 749.80 + 10.95 delivery, the euro 850 price shown is RRP. 10-14 day delivery. Price roughly equates to £525
Not sure if the delivery quoted is OK for UK.
Has anyone bought one from the continent yet.
just about to! The full cost inclusive of delivery to the UK for the 1400 works out to around £550.
let us know how you get on mate experience wise etc and that looks one hell of a amp mate
Not only looks but sounds one hell of an amp - If you can get one for £550 then this is seriously good stuff. Unfortunately, my priorities have had to change (big bill for dental work) so I'll have to wait for a month or so before I can afford one.
you heard one in action wilber ?
Oh yes indeed - very impressed - if you do a search on my user name in this section you should find a thread about 1400 demos. I'm hoping to get a loan of one this weekend to give it a good thrashing in my home
I'm just a big softy really. Here it is:
I went and took a look at the RX-V1400RDS Amp on saturday at Technosound in Milton Keynes. I am yet to have a demo but it looks good, having had a chat with one of the guys there they mentioned yamaha's attempt to only supply limited authorised dealers with this receiver to limit the discounting of it. I dont know if this is why only limited dealers actually stock it but thought I would pass on the info. If this is the case it will be difficult to get one much cheaper than the RRP.
Has anyone taken delivery of one of these as yet?
I am considering my sources and speakers now, I am looking for a new DVD player and considering an upgrade from my B&W 601's to something newer and better, but would have to upgrade a bit at a time.
I would like to hear your thoughts on what speakers you guys are using if thats ok?
As for DVD - I will either get the Pioneer 565 or the new Yamaha 540 (prog scan on Pal/NTSC) may have to upgrade my panny pj to a P200/300 though!
if thats true, thats just pathetic, at the end of the day, its up to the retailer how much they charge right?
Yamaha still get the same amount of cash from the retailer for stock either way.
As good as yamaha are if the pioneer ax3 is £200 less than the 1400 i know which one i will buy
Yes I know, I looked at the AX3 as well but there is no component video switching which IMO is a major drawback especially when I use it for my projector.
Then also the yammy can upconvert composite and s-vhs so that you only have to run a single cable. Other then these shortcomings I would prefer the AX3. I have always had yamaha amps, starting with the DSPA3090, DSPA1 (then got divorced lost all of it) and lumped now with a DSP-A5!
I've got an A5 too its superb, sure no 6 channel sound, but i dont have space for more speakers
I agree with you fordy.
I am looking forward to a move into a larger room and have wired in the speaker cables behind walls.
Unfortunately I only wired in 6 instead of 7 as I lost the plot regarding the stereo rear when using 7.1 in THX, so I am going to need another cable run under the carpet.
I am not sure what speakers to use for the rear centre at the mo, am currently using 601's (B&W) but want a smaller pair to handle the rear centre that are not too obtrusive.
I plan to sell my A5 to help cover the cost of the new Amp but dont expect to get much more than £100 for it tbh!
I was waiting for this product, but after hearing about Yamaha's policy on it I'm going to stop waiting and consider denon/Pioneer.
I would'nt be so annoyed if we in the UK were not being ripped off. I expect some price discrepancy compared to the US, but when the German internet price for the 2400 is £560 approximately I find the UK price of £999 totally unacceptable.
tonetrainer - I'm considering ignoring the rules on front speakers matching and considering an M&K centre 850 to not match my monitor audio Silver 8i's. It was the best centre speaker I've heard for speech.
Unfortunately when I told the shop I had a Yamaha DSP-A1 they would'nt sell me the speakers as they would probably be painful with high pitched sounds !
P.S. I notice that the German site named above has now removed it's price (and so have several others).
Avlands price is now back up to £800 as well
