A yamaha rx650 or dsp750?

There is almost £150 pound difference in the two. Although 650 hasnt won as many awards i think its due to the prevailing prices at the time of the review. There WAS only £50 pound difference between them.

But with £150 pounds cheaper Rx650 sounds like good bargain??

At that price the 650 does seem like a bargain. Also remember that the entire x50 range is due to be replaced in a few months so the whole range might drop in price then.

Have you demo'd either to see if you like the sound?

Nope i am just going by what people have said in this forum. It is mainly for Films and apparently yamaha are the best for movies.

Do u think it will be hard to get hold of x50 range in a few months most shops have only few pieces left and seem to be clearing it out. Cos i dnt mind waiting a little longer if it means saving a 100 pounds!!!!

With a £150 difference it does sound like a bargain, although remember, as Dfour said, that prices are bound to drop over the next couple of months with the 750 being replaced by the 757.

The differences between the 750 and 650 are as follows (courtesy of reservoir51):

1) Front aluminium fascia
2) Phono stage
3) Learning remote
4) Slightly more power (100W x 7 vs 95W x 7)
5) Component video upconversion from composite or S-video
6) Engineered and modified to meet the demands of British audiophile ears (hence, more musical especially in stereo)

As you have said you run the risk of missing out on the amp you want if you wait to long. I would doubt that they will sell out to fast though as you can still pick up rxv640's new now and they are last years stock.

If you can afford it now it might be worth it now and if the price drops then so be it.

I wouldn't have thought so, I'm sure it just depends on the retailer.

In which case the RXV650 isn't £150 cheaper than the DSP750 as that can be had for less than £350 at soundandvisiononline and it looks like the RXV750 is also available for less than £350 from Pixmania for those that don't want to import from Germany.
