Can anyone tell me what class of amplifier is in this AV receiver, I need to know so I can wire my REL sub in.
Thank you very informative, appreciate the assistance.REL have always implied that there's something to be gained by making both a high and a low level connection at the same time. THis simply isn't the case. If you buy a BK sub which also includes a neutrik connection and independant frequency filter etc then they do not make the same suggestion. THe fact that BK used to make subs for REL goes someway to dismiss what REL are suggesting you do. THere's no real reason for you having to have both a low level and a high level connection. THe high level connection would only really of be any use if treating your front left and right speakers as being full range which goes against what is generally suggested when using an AV receiver with intehral bass management.
Having both a high and a low level connection is simply making the setup and setting it up more complex than it needs to be.
Yamaha AV receivers use class A/B and not D amplification. Only Pioneer really use class D and it would be Class D amplification that would cause you issues relative to a neutrik high level connection.
As mentioned, BK used to manufacture subwoofers for REL:
