Yamaha RX-V679 Speakers only work with certain inputs

I'm stumped and would love your assistance. I have a Yamaha RX-V679 and a Samsung 8000 series TV (82"). I have a 7.1 speaker setup and great great surround sound audio for the TV (streaming content via ethernet directly to the TV and audio returning to the receiver via HDMI ARC). However, when I connect an audio source (e.g., Alexa echo dot) into the Audio 1 port on the receiver, the audio only outputs through the front two speakers.

I've tried different settings (e.g., 7 channel, theater X, 2 channel, etc.) and none of them allow the audio to play through all 7 speakers (plus the sub).

I'm sure I'm missing a setting somewhere. Any suggestions?

Thanks in advance to the AV Forums geniuses!!!

In case someone has found this thread in hopes of solving a similar problem, I found the solution. It's super easy :). There is a button called "Party" on the remote that expands the audio feed to all speakers. It appears that "Party" needs to be selected for each and every input that you might want to use with a continuous feed of sourced audio.

Hope that helps someone!
