Yamaha RX-V679 HLG

Hi. Trying to set up HDR on Sky Q and passing through my Yamaha RX-V679 firmware 2.86. Sky is set to UHD 10bit, and LGOLED TV UHD deep colour on. The HDR content doesn’t not display in sky menus. Does anyone know if the AV with the firmware installed is HLG compatible? I’m thinking this is the missing link. Thanks.

The RX-V679 should be fully HDR10, Dolby Vision and HLG compliant. The most current firmware would be version 2.86.

Ensure that the AV receive's 4K MODE is set to MODE 1. This has to be done via the AV receiver's advanced settings. Instructions on how to access these settings can be found within the owners manual.

Note that quite a lot of people experience problems trying to get HDR HLG via SKY. The issue you are having may be more to do with your SKY box and the SKY service than it has to do with your AV receiver?

You could also try using different HDMI cables, preferably ones rated HIGH SPEED (at least 18Gbps).

You will only get Atmos in conjunction with UHD programmes. Not all programmes are in HDR and you need the full UHD subscription. You seem to have the Sky box set up correctly. Try Britannia III which does have a very good HDR presentation.
