looking to get a new av receiver. was looking to spend about £300 and had my eye on the Yamaha RX-V677. But then also saw the SONY STRDN1050 had dropped in price so want to know if it is worth spending the extra money. I'd say it'd be a 70%/30% music/movie usage split.

I used a 10% off on ebay code if I paid with paypal, (it said it was valid until 25 or 26th of june, so check your account), ended up getting the 677 for £234 delivered from Sevonoaks Audio, pretty bargainous

I auditioned both, couldn't say one was better than the other, but knowing Yamaha's are usually pretty well built, it was cheaper and more aesthetically pleasing to the eye, I went with it. Love it!

You need to set a delay on the hdmi you are using.
I bought the 677 but the zone 2 is well out of sync to zone 1, this is because of zone 1 processing the sound. I am taking it back and swapping it for the SONY STRDN1050.:D

I've for the strdn1030 and whilst the sound is great and features fine - the menu, navigation and AirPlay is awful. Go and play/listen to them both - see what you think. :)
