I have a problem with connections, my CD recorder is connected via 2 din audio plugs to connection 11 (audio 1) and the sound comes through the amplifier but trying to record by connecting from the input of the CD recorder to connection 13 or 14 again via two din plugs but the CDR does not register any sound. The sound I am trying to record can be heard through the yamaha. I have also tried this through a cassette recorder with the same result. Any help please.

You cannot output audio that is being input via a digital input via an analogue output. The two RCA outputs you are using to try output audio from cannot output audio sourced via S/PDIF digital inputs or HDMI. Only audio accessed via analogue inputs can be output via the analogue outputs in question.
