Yamaha RX-V630RDS Advice Needed

Hi peeps

I am thinking about buying a RX-V630RDS to replace my RX-V396RDS. I will also buy a Pioneer DV-656A (MR) player to go with it. Do you think these will be a good match?

I will be buying these from Richer Sounds when they come back in stock. Does anyone know of the cheapest price on the web for the receiver so I can get a price match from RS.

Thanks! :p

Don't know anything about the producst in question, but for good prices on the web, I'd suggest going to Kelkoo
You can do a search and it will give you price comparrisons of the product from a few companies.

Exactly the machinery I have, you won't be disappointed, DTS 6.1 ES is wonderful through these pieces of kit

The only thing to ensure is that the dvd player is set up properly e.g. audio output defaults to 2 channel rather than 6 which you'll need for SACD/DVD-A and the scart defaults to standard rather than RGB.

The only problem with getting both from RS is that the Yammy's they stock tend to be black whilst the Pioneers are silver.

Richer's in Bristol had the Pioneer back in stock on Friday.

As for the Yamaha price, RS do it for £320 which is as good as I have seen from anyone they will price match (they have a clause that they will only match "Which" approved traders)

Guys you lot read my mind.

I bought the silver 656a player (frickin amazing BTW) yesterday from Richer, and am in now a dilemma as to which amp to match it with. HyperFi quoted me £250 for the Yammy DSP-630 (NOT RXV, I have no need for a radio with this price difference)boxed brand new, but it doesnt come in silver.

Im very close to matching the player with the Pioneer 811 amp (you can hook the 2 up with 3.5 analog cable to make the remotes one-4-all). Also What hi-fi gave it 5stars plus it has 100watts & looks so sweet with the 656a.

Can anyone help me choose?

630s are hard to come by at RS but according to 7oaks, they're advertising them for £270 for the receiver - about the price 7oaks pay trade.

I have contacted all of the RS branches in London and none of them have the 630RDS in stock. They were selling it for £280. Yamaha have no stock themselves as the 640 will be available in a few weeks.

richer sounds told me they didn't think they would have the rxv630rds coming in again so i ordered 2 titanium ones from superfi yesterday and am now the proud owner of twins today:D

Anyone know what the expected retail price is ?

I'm looking to upgrade my HTR-5540RDS and would certainly wait if there wasnt a hug difference.

640 - Don't hold your breath on getting one of these.

Yamaha UK have not even told dealers ofiicially of their existence - I spoke to a couple managers of local dealers (7oaks & audiox)today about a rotel amp and just mentioned the new amp in passing. Neither had heard about them yet.

Expect the price to be £450. As soon as thee box shifters get their hands on the grey ones the price will come down to £375 then drop toward £300 - it's a familiar pattern.

Spoke to Yamaha today and the 640/740 should be released in April prob around similar price points to todays 630/730 when they were first released.

It has had work done on it's sound quality and even mentioned stereo should sound different.

Still unsure myself to just get a 630 @250 or wait for the 640, I would really like the best stereo solution out of both.

Its either that or get a [email protected] + a nad 350 @150.

Totally confused as what to do....

If you can get a C350 @ £150 ... I'd go for that and a Yamaha 630 ... whatever they do to the 640 for stereo I would doubt that it will sound as good as a £250 stereo amp.

You know sounddog you are right!!

Thanks in help with the decsion making!! The thing is av amps seem to be rapidly changing in spec every year now and who knows what they will add next, although it may slow down alot now.

Whereas stereo amps?? Roughly the same in spec as 10 years ago.

Cheers
