    I am having trouble hooking up my wireless headphones in a way that allows me to get sound on my speakers AND the headphones.

    My ‘devices’ are
    1. DVD
    Connected via optical cable port 2 (DVD)
    2. DirecTV receiver (HR23/700)
    Connected to TV via component cable, back to D-TV/Cable via RCA cable
    3. Roku (Streaming video player)
    Connected via optical cable port 3 (MD/CD-R)
    At this point everything works fine, I can select the appropriate Input source and all is good.

    I have a set of Acoustic Research headphones (Model AW-791) and they have 3 inputs.
    1 = RCA
    2 = Toslink (optical)
    3 = Digital

    My ‘logic’ says that I should be able to use my headphones as an extension; ie whatever input source I am using should also output sound to a ‘port/output’ that I can hook up to --- without impacting my normal speakers but no amount of cable switching has worked.

    I have the owners manual but I guess I am dumber than a stump with this stuff (my grandson normally does it for us <g>) so any guidance would be appreciated.

    Thanks

    As it turns out, Yamaha actually has 'live' support!

    This receiver only has an analog output for my purposes so it won't work for my purposes as a number of my 'devices' use digital cables for output.
